Does fibre glass affect the gps signal?
My van roof is fibre glass and if possible i want to put the antena on the inside of the roof. |

Fibre glass should have next to no influence on the GPS signal. Putting the antenna on the inside should work just fine. _________________ Lutz

Fiberglass might affect the cental frequency of a patch antenna if it is sufficicently close (up to 2cm) to the antenna. |

Absolutely no problems at all... mine lives in a TVR (which are not good for electrical interference generally )... had no problems with the standard unit... so not even going to bother with the external antenna.. |

You may find it harder to mount the antenna - magnetic bases don't stick to fibreglass!
Meanwhile, many external antennas will be set up to work ideally over metal (acting as a ground plane) - so it may be slightly off tune if not over metal, and slightly less efficient as a result. You can only try it, though, and I'd be surprised if it was that affected by the fibreglass.

Mines fine (fibreglass car as well) :D
I even tried it attached to the underside of my sunroof (that has a carbon fibre panel instead of the glass) and it worked fine through that too. |
