Just a quick addition to this topic. I have just ordered just the software from the site (and it gave me a positive confirmation on screen) but I've yet to receive a confirmation email so am a bit miffed.
Under European union distance selling laws (i.e. consumer protection for e-commerce) you should get a proper confirmation email etc. If tomtom get in a muddle you ought to point out thier responcibilities.eu law.
I'm not sure but I think that the serial / activation issue is pretty dodgy, software should still be 'fit for the purpose' (i.e. work) so if you purchace legitamate software then you should be able to use it with a proper serial code that doesn't expire. But I guess I'll get round this by ensuring the registry's all backed up.
Anyway looking forward to getting my software! _________________ wibble |

Ian, 2 seconds from now . I wouldn't expect it that soon, I would give it 3-5 working days as a starter. TomTom have usually sent the full hardware packages out so they arrive at your door within 2 working days, but they will be under pressure here as there's a lot of people wanting to upgrade, so I'd say 3-5 working days, maybe a little longer. So in answer to your initial question, still 2 seconds.
[loud noise as Dave starts running out of the forum]
thealbs, doesn't sound good at all! TomTom should be able to confirm that the voucher hasn't been used (at least I would hope so), but it will mean though an email to them and a long wait and several more emails.

OK - update on my situation (I was original poster of this thread)....
GOOD NEWS - I received an emal advising me of the voucher code and a link to the upgrade page!
BAD NEWS - I went through the process and...it cancelled my order! APparently their serevr did not receive a positive authorisation (no, I do not have a bad credit rating and have sued the credit car on other sites succcessfully since!), so they stopped the transaction.
Not only that, but the voucher code has now been used so I can't go through the process again. Have TomTom never heard of transaction-consistency in their IT systems?????
I DESPAIR. _________________ (using Tom Tom Navigator 2) |

Dave
those were wise words - now that I've ordered TTN2 when is it permissable to start bitching about it not arriving?
I take it I shouldn't expect it on the mat this evening when I get home?

Cessquill is correct in his summation of my predicament.
It is ***s Law, but wouldn't be half as bad if TomTom would simply send me a 'Yes' or 'No' answer on whether I'm actually on the list or not.

Don't get me started on their appaling attitude to communication! We have gratefully received a review copy but only one activation is permitted I foolishly thought a swift email asking for keys so the whole team could review it (we're located all over the place so simply sharing one PPC isn't viable). Needless to say I've not even had the courtesy of a reply acknowledging my request.
I'm a huge fan of the product and having tested all the competition it still stands head and shoulders above the rest but they really do need to work on their customer communication. TomTom, if you're listening is there any chance of an answer _________________ Darren Griffin |

Oldie. The site says they will start contacting you on or after next Monday.
You might have made the same misunderstanding that I made when first reading this post. thealbs returned the CD before TTN2 was announced for a different reason and is now trying to correlate the upgrade form and CD at TomTom's offices (unless I've misunderstood?).
It is unfortunate, annoying, and Murphy's Law. _________________ What's going on? Where am I? |

I returned my CD and upgrade form on 20/3/03 and have heard nothing at all. Is it worth emailing them? |

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems communicating with Tom Tom regarding TTNAV2?
I (typically!) postd my CD to TT for a maps upgrade one day before they announced TTNAV2. Therefore they have my CD and hence I can't send it to them again. They have acknowledged reciept of my CD. I also emailed them the upgrade form (no point posting if it wasn't accompanied with the CD I thought).
The only responses I've had from numerous emails to TomTom are the standard "Thanks for your email. Please look at our web-site for details of upgrading". Unfortunaterly, their web-site doesn't cater for anything other than the "post everything you own to us and we'll let you know" scneario.
How annoying is that? Anyone else had similar problems by the way?
Well, glad thats off my chest now. Still....can't wait for new features in TTNAV2 - if I ever get it!

Was just told from TomTom that they are going to work this weekend to finish the e-mail before Monday, so if you have not received an e-mail from them by monday they have not received your discs I guess.
