So, I've got icn510 with UK maps and Italy maps.
I have icn630 smartst v2 Europe maps cds, too
but I was told that I can't put it in my icn510, right?
When I go in the SmartSt v3 Desktop program, it recognises the maps on the icn630 cds, but I can't intall them in the icn510 because they are not activated.
Then the program tries to connect with Navman online site and asks to me information to register me and activate maps, but I have no key or password or serial number.
In my icn510 package there was a paper telling me that my icn510 is already unlocked.
What to do?
Thank you for the help!
Do I need to buy the PanEuropean map??????????????
No way!
Need help!!!!
(By the way, I live in Italy and I don't know why in my icn510 I found the UK cd maps too... I don't need it... not every day...
Is there anyone who needs it?)
Ciao,
Paolo. |

Paolo, I'm confused. You say you've purchased a iCN510 but have iCN630 V2 CD's ? Have you acquired these from somewhere or were they in the box ? If the latter, they shouldn't be in the box and I would talk to the retailer you purchased it from.
The latest iCN range, e.g. 510, 635, 650 all use V3 maps not V2, so if you've received V2 then it would sound like someone has probably purchased the unit you have bought, illegally swapped the CD's around and sent it back just to try and get some V3 software. |

Sorry for the confusion.
Dave,
I bought new icn510 with Italy and UK (?) maps cds and with all the smartST v3 software.
My cousin, who lives in Spain, gave me his Europe cds for his icn630 v2.
Now, I'm trying to put these maps into my icn510, but i can't. |

Can I ask how many CDs you got with your 510? I thought that you should get four in all, one for the app. and three for the maps.
At the very least you'll need to register the V2 maps for your iCN510, which means you'll need another map key from Navman, although I understand that the iCN510 won't run V2 data. _________________ Tim |

Tim is correct, in that V2 software INCLUDING Data (maps) are incompatible with version 3.
On purchase (in the UK) you get 2 cds. One with the smartst software, the other contains the UK map set (incomplete, but thats a grouse of mine), of which UK only is preloaded onto the 128kb SD card provided. Non installed maps supplied include a basemap of Europe (basically motorways only), and the Republic of Ireland, heres the rub, you need a 256MB SD card to contain the lot.
WHen/if u purchase the European set you get 4 CDS, CD one contains Smartst (again) and 3 map cds. if you want to fit that lot, and the UK on an SD, you would need a 2GB version. (I keep Most of Europe loaded on one 1GB SD Disk).
regards
David |

From the FAQ of navman-europe site:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will my iCN 630 maps work with V3 software?
Yes. The maps you have on your iCN 630 will work with the latest SmartST™ V3 software. However, the new maps that are sold with SmartST™ V3 will not work with SmartST™ V2 software.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's it! I have got previous version (V2 icn63o) maps, and they could work with V3 (on my icn510), but I can't download them in the memory card.
I have 3 cds only, the ones with the maps, not the smartstv2 install software.
I'm thinking about trying downloading in a memory card the maps manually |

That FAQ entry is for the iCN630. V2 maps will also work on a PPC running V3 software, but the iCN510 has never had a V2 version, therefore no V2 maps have ever been made for it, and no V2 maps for the 630 or PPC/PiN will work with 510. This is my understanding of the matter. _________________ Tim |

That's mighty strange.
Why is the UK mapset incomplete? And why only 2 CD's?
It was my understanding that any new device running v3 would come with all of Europe on 3 discs but only one region would be unlocked (with the exception of the iCN650). To unlock other regions you simply purchased an unlock key, either for a single region (silver) or the full set (gold).
This issue is becoming very cloudy.
I also note that there is no mention of single regions for the PiN/PPC version on the Navman site. Only the full EU appears to be available. _________________ Ian.

I think it is David who mentioned the lack of coverage for the Scillies (he has a point as they are part of Cornwall, hence part of the UK) and the Channel Isles (not part of the UK so not pertinent).
My boss just got an iCN510 and I've asked him how many CDs he got, but he doesn't know! He hasn't loaded the desktop so probably doesn't have SP1 yet.
I guess you get different CDs with a single region iCN. _________________ Tim |

It seems even more strange that you get a disc with UK maps on if you buy in Italy with Italy region unlocked.
UK and Italy are not even on the same disc???

Not on the same CDs that we have. Perhaps all the foreign region CDs come with the UK on them? _________________ Tim |

icsys,
in my icn510 pack I've found 3 cds: 1cd for smartst software; 1 cd with Italy complete maps; 1 cd with UK maps.
My SD memory card, just installed in the icn510 has the Navman Drive Away stick with the I symbol (for Italy) and product number UP007011.
All the package was sealed with Navman stickers. |
