Hi,
Lots of questions I hope someone can answer. I've just received my icn 630. It was a resale model (ex demo) and I think it's a V1? Anyway the version from the menu screen on the unit says 0.5.2 and on the CDs the properties (when I put it in the PC) says V2_4. I only got 2 CDs though. There is on V2 printed on the front label.
So I'm confused. Does anyone know what version of icn 630 I have?
Do I have to re-register the software under my name - the product is already activated?
Should I just buy the Smart V3 software?
Ta. |

Sorry I meant to say there was nothing on the label specfying the software was V2, but when I put the CD into the PC I noticed the properties in windows explorer said V2_4. So I am just a bit confused.
Any advice is appreciated. |

Hi Mojo,
Does sound like V2, as for registering it now I don't know.
I would go for V3 - it has a lot more features than V2 and has the 2004 maps. I don't know where you are - but I live in the midlands and the lack of toll road on V2 was a real pain!
Also if you do go to V3, I'd get all of europe, unless you have no plans to go to europe, because to upgrade from just one region (eg UK) to all of europe still costs £149! _________________ Mark

Thxs 4 the info. I don't think it's V2 now though as I can't get a 3D view, but the CD properties are confusing me a bit as they say V2_4. Also I thought there are 4 CDs on the V2 software? I did e-mail Navman but no reply yet. Can anyone shed any light on this?
If it is icn 630 V1 can I use V3 software? |

Hi there
I've just looked at both V1 & V2 Software Packs for the iCN630
The original software which came with my V1 iCN comprised of 2 Discs which state that it is:
Smart-Map Europe Disc 1 Installer and Maps
Smart-Map Europe Disc 2 Installer and Maps
and both Discs clearly state that the map data is 1993-2002 Navigation Technologies.
The V2 Software comprised of 4 Discs annotated:
SmartST for iCN630 Application Installer
SmartST Disc 1 of 3 Maps for Europe 2003-2004
Andorra, Spain, Norway, Portugal, Rep. of Ireland, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom
SmartST Disc 2 of 3 Maps for Europe 2003-2004
Andorra, France, Italy, San Marino, Switzerland.
SmartST Disc 3 of 3 Maps for Europe 2003-2004
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria.
and all discs state Data Source 2003 Tele Atlas.
I hope this information is of some help and, with it you should be able to identify what you have actually purchased.
With V2 you would then need to download the relevant Service Packs from the Navman Website to bring it fully up to date.
If after this you are still unsure, then in the end you might well be better off buying the new V3 Software.
Best wishes

Simple answer is yes. I originally had the V1 software and have upgraded to both V2 (Free) and V3 (Not free ) _________________ Mark

Cheers 3 the info guys. I definately have V1 then. The desktop app shows V2.3 but I guess that's the app and not the maps. I can't get any postcode searches or 3D views so that confirms it.
I'll upgrade to V3 early next year. |

BTW, so far the unit works great. The only problem was an application error/crash once when using the unit in my car. Had to pull the plug out to switch it off. It's been fine since then though. |

The problem you found was well known and also used to happen on V2. I noticed it when searching for address's. The error I got read Assert Failure and the only way to clear it was to pull the plug. Navman solved the problem fairly quickly with the issue of Service Pack 1. I've not experienced any problems since then. Presumably V3 will also be Ok and free from this 'bug'
Regards
