Doesn't work with my 3970 (ROM 2.10) either. I wonder if I should dust off the 3850 and try that?

Tim,
Don't bother I have tried it on my 3850 and it does not work. It did start Navigator once, but usually sits in the tray and does nothing. |

A new POI detector is out, and it's free! CheckPOInt is a product that will utilise the current OV2 files you have within TomTom Navigator and allow you to assign WAV files to these to alert you when you are approaching a specific POI. CheckPOInt is fully customisable and shows as a Today Screen plug-in allowing you to configure the frequency in which POI's are checked, assigning a button to record new POI's, setting a first warning, allowing you to set speeds against an OV2 file for speed cameras, you can set a speed warning and a final speed warning against each POI.

CheckPOInt is available free to download here. |

Besides, I installed it on my SD, but it showed up in RAM!
When will an update be available?

Worked ok for me, only problem I found if you change the default "sec before POI", sound warnings do not work, also visual notification does not not appear.

There is an update, v1.2 on the website, I've installed this, gone through the configuration and it still has failed to start TomTom Navigator. I uninstalled it successfully this morning, but it shafted the API hooks that are used for TomTom Navigator so it left me without GPSAssist and POI-Warner as these were both coming up with some strange registry error!
I've since re-installed GPSAssist and this has now cured it for both GPSAssist and POI-Warner. |

I noticed this software was available this morning and instantly downloaded it, my first impressions were that it looked great, exactly the unobtrusive warning software that I wanted. I felt that GPS Assist was too complicated and too large for my needs.
However, on my way to work I didn't pass any speed cameras so I couldn't test it. When I got out of the car, I tried to shut down the app and it had hung, just like everyone before has said.
In conclusion it would be great..... If it worked.
Neil
P.S. What is the software used to make your top bar look like Windows XP, with the battery meter etc. Its always on your screen shots and looks great. |

Neil,
It is IcBar and can be found here http://icbar.ictinus.com/. I use the XP Blie DAG skins, I am not sure what the others use. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Icbar is very reliable. I use v1.0.9.3 Beta 3 and have been running it since the earliest beta became available. |

I'm using a menu system called wisbar from www.pelmarinc.com. It works well with a today screen customiser, dashboard (www.snoopsoft.com).
You can download no end of skins that work with both of them at once from www.wincustomzie.com, enabling you to customise all of your machine. A lot of XP-style skins there. Quite cool.
I'll keep my eye on here for updates to checkPOInt _________________ What's going on? Where am I? |
