[MNBE4 with TMC-GPS wired]
Having had my window broken twice, I tend to remove PPC and GPS mouse when I get out of the car. As the GPS has an external aerial (mainly for the TMC I believe), can the GPS itself be out of sight (eg glovebox) with just the aerial showing, or does teh GPS also need to see the sky? |

Depends on the dashboard material. If it is mostly plastic then ia place in the glover box may just work (you have to expect longer TTFF's though) . But if there's metal in the dashboard then that won't work.
The extra aerial is for FM reception, and doesn't help at all for GPS (it's a very different frequency range) _________________ Lutz

Bother.
So does that mean you can't get external aerials for the Navigon GPS?
Does everone else just leave the GPS visible and only remove the PPC?
I suppose one alternative would be to upgrade (again) to bluetooth and put the GPS on the back shlef, but then I need to power it or it'll be flat when I want it (Sod's 12th law). |

Be aware that you cannot just get any BT reveicer - you will need one that supports TMC too. Like the modular Navigon receiver that we reviewed recently. _________________ Lutz
