I've been using co-pilot for a while.. originally on PPC and lately on my C500.
I'm not sure if this is just me but... I'm sure the Smartphone version misses some of the announcements to make a turn.
This doesn't happen all the time and appears to happen when I'm on a Motorway and exit to join another motorway... i.e. I'm heading north on the M1 and am directed to turn onto the M62 heading to Manchester... I can see the exit marked as a 'turn left' on the screen but get no announcement...
If Co-pilot wants me to exit on a 'non' motorway exit then I get the announcements fine... It appears to be thoroughtly consistent and I have also experienced it exiting the M62 onto the A627(M) towards Manchester.
The mapping is fine.. it shows the turn perfectly but something causes the announcement to fail
Has anyone else noticed missing alerts? |

Yes, I have seen this happen occasionally. I can't remember exactly where but if it happens again then I will note the location and see if I can reproduce it consistantly.
I also find that if your last turn was less than .2 miles ago then it doesn't give enough warning (max 8 seconds) for the "Take the next left" prompt.
There are many other bugs in CoPilot Smartphone which are far more serious than this though (like the out of memory crash when (re)calculating routes). _________________ Gone fishing! |

Agreed.. the memory error is a bit more serious but I just make sure nothing is running in the background and I have the maximum amount of memory available before starting.... I have a memory free bar on my home screen so that I can anticipate if there are going to be problems before I start it
As for the problem being minor... it's a bit of a pain when you are travelling down the motorway... the screen is dark because the backlight is off... and you get no notification of an upcoming turn (did I mention that the screen does not 'light up' nor does the voice instructions altert you)
Except when you are happily travelling down the motorway |

The times I have had it have been when there were a quick series of turns and it fails to speak one of them, so the back light is already on. _________________ Gone fishing! |

This actually appears to have got worse since the update. |

Quite agree, I reckon I have these memory crashes on about 80% of my journeys (no difference before or after the latest patch install). Last one on Saturday completely jammmed my C500 and requires a Hard Reset to put right. |

Check what you have running in background by checking the task list. 90% of all memory errors are caused by other apps that are running and eating away at other memory. CoPilot does have a problem with this and needs to be able to control the memory usage properly rather than just dropping out with an MAlloc error, but this is being investigated.
ALK are having difficulty to pin-point where the problem lies, I've submitted a number of test routes and although it has fallen over in simulator once, it hasn't again. It appears the longer the journey the worse memory problems can get, but that may be down to a number of other factors like I'm running Traffic and Live Tracking, and this may be having an adverse effect.
Are others using LIVE and logging into the server via the mobile ? |

I usually have Live enabled and all the POI's to try and get the custom camera database ones to show (although they to seem to have stopped working as well). I don't have anything else running but my phone is also connected to my Bluetooth Parrot car kit.
I've now done the hard reset, but I won't get much chance to try things out until Thursday pm. |

They might stand a better chance if they could be bothered to provide a little bit of feedback to the people that are trying to help them. I have provided them with numerous bug reports and have done all that I can to try and assist them with getting to the bottom of the numerous bugs that this so called software is riddled with, the only response I have had from them was a phone call asking for details of the bugs when I pointed out that CoPilot was unfit for purpose. Following that phone call they have resumed black hole duties and nothing has been seen or heard of them since.
I thought TomTom support were bad but this bunch really take the prize, as soon as TomTom becomes available without being forced to buy another bluetooth GPS I'll be ordering a copy. Hell, if I have to put up with NoPilot much longer I'll get TomTom anyway. |

By accident I found that every time you add a new stop, this creates a new entry in the task manager. No wonder you get the memory allocation errors. |
