Hi y'all,
Initially thoght about hooking Ipaq 5555/Tomtom3-Traffic/Fortuna BT Clipon through stereo.
Problem is it is either one or the other.
I have hooked up a Sony, active speaker so I can have my cake and eat it.
The speaker only uses power when in use so it is permenantly on but not permenantly active.
Hope this helps.

I have just tried connecting my HP2210 with TomTom for navigation and PocketMusic for MP3 via a cassette adaptor.
Works fine, MP3 sound quality very good better than the FM transmitter I had tried.
It does mix the sound BUT I can not seem to get the correct (or acceptable) balance, as the System, TomTom & PocketMusic Volume Controls do not appear to be independent. In other words change one and they all change.
The Navinstructions are way too loud and whilst I can turn it off that is not what I want.
Anybody any ideas if there is a way or plug in etc |

On my 2210 the system volume and TomTom voice volume are in sync, but the Windows Media Player volume is separate - so I can balance voice instructions and music by adjusting the WMP volume. _________________ Barry Davies

Barry thanks, it may be that WM is independent and PocketMusic is not.
I just did a very quick test and it would appear that way - BUT I still get the problem that when using TomTom/Properties>Voice Test it then alters the music to that volume and does not return until I tap the volume on the music player again. |

Pocket Music 2.52, the latest version, has an option to divorce the PocketMusic volume from the system volume amongst all the other configuration options. I haven't tried it, but it may be a solution for you, alanparrott.

Thanks David, however I think your refer to PocketPlayer which I may have to try again but I prefer the PM interface. |

Duh - so I did. I meant Pocket Player and wrote Pocket Music. So sorry...
I like Pocket Player, the Conduits product, a great deal - not least because 2.52 works in VGA mode on my iPAQ hx4700, and it will play files from a network share once I found the (somewhat non-intuitive) way to do so. It also deals with VBR MP3s rather better than Windows Media Player.

David Hi,
I have tried that option (is it checked or UNchecked?) and with the volume set in the system for Navigator the music on full is not loud enough. Also when Navigator takes over it turns the music down! |

Ah well - it was a thought. Sorry it didn't work out - and for the misleading information earlier (which I won't edit, as it would break the flow of the thread).

It sounds like your underlying problem is that the TomTom voice is too loud against the music at full volume. If so, a workaround might be to copy the TomTom voice .wav files to your PC, convert them to a lower volume (Windows Sound Recorder can do this, though there are doubtless more sophisticated alternatives), then copy these quieter voice files back over the originals on the Pocket PC (keeping a backup "loud" set just in case it doesn't work, of course). _________________ Barry Davies

Barry, thanks, I like it! That is exactly it. Not sure when I will get around to it but I will let you know. Of course I could just do the most common ones and ignore things like " you are about to drive off a bridge!" |
