I have yet to buy a TomTom Go, but intend to soon. Is it possible to sit the unit directly onto a flat dashboard? Or is there an alternative mount available (not air vent)??? |

the standard mounting (suction cup onto the windscreen job) also comes with a little plastic disc which you can stick on the dashboard and then attach the suction cup to that instead..... |

I too was quite concerned with how the mount would look, and how much it would block the windscreen etc - but I went ahead and got a TTG.
Can I say, the windscreen mount is fine - you can't see it behind the TTG (if you position it correctly) and it is very secure. The TTG doesn't obscure your field of view in any noticable way at all. I wouldn't use the included dash mount - the screen mount is fine.

Hmmm, in a car with a shallower windscreen (Z4) I go get the TTG in my field of vision.... not so much that I feel it's really getting in the way. |

Me too stix, though it's not too bad at all.
Mazda RX-8
Dash too gorgeous and curvy to use the dash mount though. |

Is it attached to the leather with the sucker thing? I tried that, but the grain in the leather creates air gaps which means the sucker can't create a vacuum. My car's not an Esprit though, so the leather may be different. |

No.
Click on the link to my 'guide' here:

This is just a way i got round the exact problem of the leather. I did not even contemplate the sucker on the leather (IF it worked for a bit, it would stretch it like a love bite ).
And the self adhesive disk would ruin the finish when removed (i can and have re-finished leather in the past, but always opt for caring for it instead).
Obviously my solution was car specific, but theres an idea in there somewhere :P

Actually, since we have both, I tend to use the TT3 with the PDA in my car, and the TTGO in the wife's car.
TT3 installation is a bit ugly though:

What Lotus Esprit Turbo made is very similar to a Dashmount - which are metal as opposed to the plastic of a Brodit ProClip.
However much you guys love your sports cars, they wouldn't do me much good. Being a power chair user, I find I land up driving a people carrier (I've currently got a Zafira). I don't exactly think you'd get a power chair in a TVR - and if you could somehow shrink the chair into a tiny part of its volume, 80-odd kilos of kit in the back would surely affect the performance somewhat.
