I read on ZDnet (http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Navman_Personal_In_Car_Navigation_Model__iCN_510__/4505-3490_16-31206086.html)
that the screen is unusable with polarized sunglasses. Has anyone had any experience with that? Is it readable in direct sunlight?
The battery life is quoted as 4-5 hours, is this true in real world use?
Thanks for the help :D |

If you are using heavy polarised sun glasses or very dark sun glasses then it will impair the screen quality. This is the same over nearly all systems because they use LCD and polarisation cuts down on the brightness of everything bright.
If you are that concerned, go for a StreetPilot 2600 series or a Navman iCN600 series as these have brighter screens and not PDA LCD Screens.
Regarding battery life,it's a PDA so you will look at getting around 4-5 hours battery use out of it, but that shoudln't matter because most in-car systems you need to keep on power anyway. |

Battery life I think will depend on your route, for example if your route involves a lot of instructions, the charged battery life will significantly go down. I always connect the car adaptor to the unit ready to be plugged in just in case. Just noticed as well that the internal battery is described as "back-up" in the unit, so I think you should always use the car power supply adaptor.
As for the screen, I used used Brando anti-reflective PDA screen protector for Mitac Mio. Although the screen protector is not a perfect fit (I left the upper right corner not stuck to the screen), it significantly reduced the screen reflection that even a person at the back can see the screen clearly. |

I finally got my Brando protector on your recommendation - got the one designed for the Ipaq 1910 and it's a perfect fit. Seems to do the job very well. |
