Hi!

I have bought a Ipaq 1930 with a wired GPS. See http://www.kirrio.com/uk/products/bundles/index.php?cat=0&id=1 for details.

And I have just bought the TT3 software, but I can't get it to work! The fix to the gps is not correct. The gps doesn't stand listed in TT3 and I don't know it's com...

Can anyone help me?

Thanx,
Tor Arne, Norway

Hi there,

Was in Florence, Italy recently and spent many happy hours helping an Aussie guy to set one of these very packages up with TT3.

I can't recall what the COM port is but I clearly remember that the one shown in the instruction book is correct for Tomtom 3 also.

Please note that the plug that goes into the base of the holder needs to be pushed home very firmly past the first resistance point.

Good luck.

Steve

Hi, thanks for quick response.I can choose between many different gps's and com's, but in the manual for the gps it says com 9. This is not an option in TT3, only com 0 and 3.

Hi,

Yeh - that rings a bell with me. I'm confident that he used TT3 on the same COM port and COM 9 sounds good to me as I'm sure that the 1930 doesn't have a serial port and uses COM 9 as a kind of pseudo serial port.

I'll give it some thought. In the meantime, go into settings/connections and try unticking the 'receive incoming beams' box as that does cause problems tying up ports on some PDA's.

Further to the above - if you have the ViaMichelin software installed and/or running in the background on your 1930, it may be hogging COM 9.

If that is the case, try completely uninstalling the ViaMichelin program.

Rest assured, the TT3 software does work well on this hardware package but when I saw it working, ViaMichelin was not simultaneously installed.

Hi!

I got a hint from Gunnar at http://tomtom.nystul.no/forum/index.php -> Norwegian TT page. He said "try TomTom GPS and serial to usb on port settings". Tested, and worked at once!!

Thanks,

Tori

Good news!

I remember that we had a bit of difficulty with the one in Italy and succeeded in the end by trial & error although my memory at my age doesn't help me any as to recall definitively how we did it!

It was a package from the Carrefour supermarket. Quite good value but not made any easier by Windows being in Italian!
