I've read the review and a few other reviews aswell, all seem good apart from one review on www.pcworld.com which didn't rate it very well at all
Do you know if the external GPS antena is available to buy on its own from elseware?
Thanks again for your help Darren :D |

Do you have a link top their review? I wouldn't let it cloud your decision, I think it's a great little unit and excellent value, it's also a damn good PocketPC with a great screen.
And yes the external antenna is available from a multitude of sources so don't let that stop you _________________ Darren Griffin |

The antenna you need is an MMCX type, Haicom do a Mio168 Compatible version and it can be bought from Global Positioning Systems for £19.97 inc of VAT. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Does anyone know if this Aldi integrated GPS unit is also able to output NMEA or position information? I would like to have the facility to connect to a laptop and use the pda as a GPS. This can be done with the previous Aldi pda with the separate Royaltec GPS unit. |

A couple of questions - I'm new to this GPS stuff, so forgive me if I'm not very clear on the technical terms...
I'd very much like to have a GPS system, with a possible future upgrade to TMC.
It sounds like the Aldi deal is a very good one; but would I be right in thinking that the Aldi system is a good deal with a view to an upgrade to TMC in the near future?
Is is actually possible to upgrade this system to support TMC - is it just a case of buying a TMC module like this one here?
A second (easier) question for those who have bought GPS from Aldi in the past - what are my chances of actually finding it in stock by about 10am on Thursday morning? I can't rearrange my 9am meeting
Many thanks! |

I bought a Medion PDA / GPS package at Aldi this time last year. I was at the store queuing at about 8.30 am. Only two people at that time (self included) were interested in the PDA / GPS package all the other shoppers wanted the other cheaper offer items. Earlier this year when Aldi had another PDA / GPS package on offer I was in the same shop a week or two after the initial release date and they still had stock. Now I can't guarantee it but I would not foresee any problem getting one at 10am, but you never know. |

Thanks all! I'll just take a chance, and if I fail I might buy a more expensive one!
I've been searching around about TMC, and I'm still quite confused about how easy it is to get. It sounds like it is possible to get it in the UK, despite what the website says, but I'm not clear on if I can simply upgrade my Aldi GPS (which I'll have bought successfully at 10am ) to add on a TMC "mouse" (if that's the right term)... |
