I want to purchase CoPilot but dont really want to purchase another GPS aerial. Does anyone know if you can purchase a wired connection kit for my Holux GM210 to work with a Orange C500?
Thanks |

AFAIK the C500 does not have a serial port exposed on the bottom connector. So to continue to use your current receiver you would need a USB-to-Serial converter, and you might need the appropriate driver on the C500. Not sure that type of cable exists yet.
It's the same problem as with the newer PDAs - increasingly they come without a standard COM port. _________________ Lutz

Thanks Lutz
I guess I could try one of those mouse USB to PS/2 converters ;) it *might* work (but I doubt it!) |

It won't. Bluetooth is the only option for the C500 at present. _________________ Darren Griffin |

OK thanks. I think because of this I might swing to Tomtom Mobile being a old timer of TT and just seeing a demo of CoPilot from a work colleague - he doesnt like it and has gone back to TT for PPC with the traffic addon. Thanks for the help. |

I'm trying to do exactly what you are asking, I'm using a standard TomTom/Leadtek wired GPS receiver & connecting cable. I've just finished modifing the connector so that I can then use this Bluetooth adaptor.
http://www.pc-mobile.net/bta.htm
Basically this will converty a standard serial NMEA data stream and transmit it via Bluetooth. I will then be able to connect any BT enabled device to my wired GPS, including the C500.
The cable is now complete, just waiting for my car to be returned. |
