Hi there
For those who may be interested, Service Pack 3 for the iCN630 V2 is now on the Navman website. I've just downloaded it to my PC but not yet installed it.
Regards

Hi AlfieB (and others!)
I've just downloaded and installed SP3 onto my iCN630 - went without a hitch :D Just can't see exactly its done!
I did notice it updated the SIRF firmware among other things.
I've just see what a simulated route is like - and it still thinks I can get from the centre of Birmingham to home (About 8.3miles) in 11minutes. And in SIM mode its only doing 16miles an hour. Which is something about realistic.
Anyone know exactly what the update is about? _________________ Mark

Not sure what's in the update, but Navman have been quiet about it's release so I guess it's just some bug fixes. Looking at the file name it was released for 21st Sept or there abouts. |

The UpdatePack file mentions, among other things, a GPS firmware update. _________________ Tim |

Hi Angelfire
I updated my iCN earlier today, and have been using it for the past few hours with no problems. At present I've not noticed anything different, so it's probably much as Dave said, "Navman just fixing some bugs". I have asked Navman if they can tell me what the content of it is and if I get an answer I'll post it here.
For what it's worth I did ask about the V3 software and was told that there will be no concessions for existing users. It is not being treated like an upgrade in the manner V2 was. If we want it, then we can get it from any supplier who stocks it. I must admit, I'm not surprised. I wouldn't have really expected any other answer, but then I expect most users will already have known this
From what I can see it looks very good but I'm going to watch / wait a while before I invest in it .
Regards

Thanks alfieB,
The biggest thing for me with V3 is the inclusion of the M6 Toll! Being a brummy it will be very welcome :D
But also the waypoints etc - not so bothered about the POI's - I have an Origin B2 for cameras- which I've just taken out as I am changing my car when they have fitted cruise to it. (Should have been today - but they recieved the wrong bits twice apparently )
Not sure to go for the UK only or Europe as well - I'm not sure if you can get the europe only bit sfterwards - and if so how much _________________ Mark

Sorry to reply to my own message - but I've found this on the Navman Website.
Quote: | General Improvements and Enhancements:
Unable to read files under certain conditions - Modified software eliminates the file read error which could occur as the iCN630 loaded large numbers of map data files.
Improves time to first fix for the GPS firmware - Improved the time-to-first-fix (TTFF) on GPS receivers that have latched-off real-time clocks (RTCs). |
Can't say I've had a problem with the latter. _________________ Mark

Angelfire
My understanding from Navman is that you will be able to purchase Regional Maps as you require them. How that will work and what the cost will be I don't know.
Eventually, I will just go for the UK only and then if I have a need to cross the channel, I'll think about getting the other maps at that time.
One question that may be worth exploring, although I haven't put to Navman yet is:
If we decide to stay with V2 are they going make new versions of TeleAtlas maps available to us or will we forced down the route of having to get V3
Regards

I installed Service pack 3 two days ago and have been using it without any problems since.
I used to suffer from the problem of getting a GPS signal on a cold start, sometimes it would take over 5 mins or require powering on and off and waiting again to get a signal. Since installing the patch I haven't had this problem. :D |
