You can get the serial number by looking in Start, Settings, System, Asset Viewer.
Or by taking out the battery- but I don't recommend that way! |

We are not talking serial number here, we talk Device ID. Funny enough those two are different. The serial number is from the PDA manufacturer, the Device ID is unique throughout all PDAs and is etched into the processor, so to speak. _________________ Lutz

I quickly crafted a proggie that does just that - tell you the Device ID. Let me know if you want me to send it around.
Funny enough it does not match the Device ID that my Asset Viewer program shows - some of the bytes are swapped. But me thinks that the Asset Viewer may have a problem here, because my code is flawless 8O _________________ Lutz

Doesn't it give you the Device code when you register the TomTom software, I have mine written down on a piece of paper with the activation codes - I must have got them from that site.

The code that TomTom uses is part of the Device ID - but the actual DeviceID is much longer, consisting of a variable part (unique ID) and a fix part (vendor/platform ID.
It's similiar to a MAC address wher the first three bytes identify the manufacturer and the last three bytes are a running number. _________________ Lutz
