Thanks Eddie, that's worked! Have POI edit so will try and do it for myself with the specs and redlight.
Can I just say, what a fantatsic response from you guys! Thanks a lot. (And, I've not even been out in my car yet! Journey tomorrow from Bristol to Winchester, UK, should try it out. 13 year old son having a drive in a tank!!)

Oh, its so easy now!! All done.
I was looking at the 650, but couldn't wait, so have got this one. I think it'll be better, looks smarter in the car.
See you on the forum!

Looks like I was wrong with some of my original advice about using the CSV file - just thought I'd post again to apologise for that - a case of putting 2 and 2 together and it equalling 5 unexpectedly !
Glad Paul you've got yours working !
Perhaps this site can offer a Navman-friendly ASCII file inside the GATSO zip file ? |

|
|
First of all I would like to thank Eddie for helping me crack the problem of importing POI files. I've had my 510 for a week and have been constantly beaten by the editor not liking CSV files. I made the mistake of not using Notepad to edit out the header line - I was using Excel.
I do on occasions get the error message someone mentioned 'No POI's in input file'. I find if I highlight the first line of co-ordinates and select 'modify' or 'edit' the correct number of digits appears for decimal co-ordinates i.e. a trailing zero or so to make up the numbers. Only the first line has to be edited then the file will copy across to the navman.
regards
Grant. |

Well, I finally got the POI's in. Thanks to everyone for all their comments and help. I ended up using the POI Converter to open and convert the ov2 files into csv's. However in Wordpad, I found that there was a column left over of " " which was impossible to delete line by line. Eventually, in complete contrast to gelec, I opened the file in Excel and the " " were in a separate column. I was able to delete the column then resave it (without converting it to an Excel'97 format - very important!) The files were then easily loaded into POI Edit and onto the Navman.
Woo hoo!!!
Now - does anyone know if it's possible to change the warning sound given to a .wav file of my own choice? Do I simply open the right folder on the Navman and replace the wav file it uses with one of my own? |

Good to see you have the POIs loaded.
As for the warning sound, it's likely that you can only change it if you can get to the directory structure. If you can, the file is called cosmicl.wav and you should be able to replace it. _________________ Tim |

The 510 currently appears to only be available to buy with single country maps, i.e. UK if purchased in the UK, plus a major road base-map for europe.
The Euro maps which are purchased as an extra cover 16 Western European countries which include - United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden _________________ Ian.

Anybody help me? I bought a double adapter for the cigar lighter so I could plug in the 510 and recharge my phone at the same time. The only sensible place to attach the adapter is to the plastic on the side of the transmission tunnel, to the left of the driver's leg. Trouble is, the double-sided tape they supplied doesn't like to stick to the plastic (partly cos it's been Armourall-ed a few times).
Anyone got an idea how to fasten this thing without drilling holes into the plastic?? |
