I am hoping an expert can help me resolve a problem:

Using Tom Tom GO app on Samsung phone via Android Auto and data USB cable, connected to a Hyundai Kona.

Started using this set-up about a year ago. It worked fine, and was a great improvement over Hyundai's built-in system. In particular the route bar - just like the TT standalone units (I have an ageing GO 5200) that I find an essential feature of TT satnavs, was showing as normal. Then a couple of months ago the sidebar that normally showed on the Hyundai screen disappeared, but leaving the usual moving map. The sidebar on the phone display was still there and working normally.

I checked all the settings, both on the phone and the Hyundai display but found everything apparently normal. I then deleted and reinstalled the app on my phone (twice) but still the route bar refuses to display on the Hyundai screen. I tried another USB data cable but that didn't make any difference.

I now suspect a TT update may be responsible. (The car hasn't been in for service for more than 6 months so no new display/satnav updates from the servicing garage.)

I'm running out of ideas as to how restore the route bar, although otherwise the display is working normally. All suggestions welcome!

Thanks.

Android Auto is essentially a second display for your phone - as such the output is controlled by the app itself.

It sounds like the TomTom app on your phone has had an update that has removed that feature. It my be worth creating a support ticket with TomTom about the changed feature? It might be a bug or it might have been removed on purpose.

Thanks, I'll certainly give that a go and report back in due course. I find the route bar invaluable because it 'looks ahead' and makes it easy to avoid trouble before joining a queue, unlike the Hyundai system which does show traffic etc but not until you are in it - which is a bit pointless in my view! I've been into the settings countless times but this feature simply doesn't exist.

PS This has just popped up, despite my search before posting:

https://www.tomtomforums.com/threads/route-bar-not-showing-anymore-on-android-auto.35023/

I don't pretend to understand much of this, except to note that I (somehow) need to go back to a previous version and come off the beta version that I hadn't realised I was on.

I will raise a ticket but if anyone wants to set out a step-by-step guide for an IT simpleton as to how I do this then please be my guest!

Thanks again.

If you go to the PlayStore on your phone and search for 'Android Auto'. Scroll down past the description of the app and if you are a beta tester there'll be a large, pale blue box that says "You're a beta tester..." with a bunch of text about it. There will be an option for 'Leave' to leave the beta.

If there is no box saying you're a beta tester then it means the updates have rolled out for everyone. That TomTom forum thread was from Feb/Mar this year so a good 5-6 months ago so it may be public now instead of beta.

Thanks for that. I have "Beta programme is full" and "The beta programme for this app is currently full." Do I assume that I'm not in it because it thinks I want to join?

Sorry if this is being a bit dim on my part. Have also raised a ticket with TT, they aim to contact next working day, ie tomorrow.

Thanks again for your patience.

I now have a response from TT. They suggesting deleting and reinstalling the GO app (done several times now) and deleting and reinstalling Android Auto.

Will report back after the weekend.
