Just seen this. Great fun after spending ages updating the database to the new 20mph default limit
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3vp4l1qe10o
Gonna be expensive for the council to add all the 30mph signs though!

Will they need to put up 30 signs given that's the default when there are no signs, street lights assumed _________________ DashCam:

I thought Wales' NSL on roads with street lamps was now 20mph unless otherwise signposted? So I assumed that to change back to 30mph the council would need to 1) apply for permission to change the designated speeds and 2) affix 30mph signs to clarify that it's not the built-up NSL speed?
Because as far as I understand, when they lowered it to 20 there were no 20mph speed signs required as that was the default speed - only those staying at 30 needed signs?

Bizarrely, Wheatley and Horspath villages in Oxfordshire changed many of their roads from 30 mph to 20 mph just last week!
Half of London Road in Wheatley is now 20 mph, whereas before, all of it was 30 mph, and many years ago, it was 40 mph. London Road is the main through road of Wheatley and has wide grass verges and pavements. The ironic thing was that this week, the A40 dual carriageway had one lane shut, with half of the traffic diverted through Wheatley and the 20 mph zones!
By the way, thanks, MaFt, for updating the database with the changes. _________________ Robert.

What I now see, regularly, is these Deliveroo type electric bikes overtaking vehicles in the 20 zones round here and not just by a few mph _________________ DashCam:
