Any update on this?
I have tomtom go 5000 and it was purchased 2nd hand as it has maps and traffic for life. The map updated fine after I plugged it in after nearly a year so have the new Europe map with UK buildings.
The update takes forever any how the traffic option on says active but I've not used this satnav outside yet.
I will update once I have used it outside.
The battery on this is gone and I'm thinking if its worth changing it. It started up okay when plugged into PC. |

I have both TomTom Go 5000 and 5100 . The 5000 is of course some years old now but it still connects via its in-built sim even if left offline for many months . Sometimes it does log itself out but it is just a simple login on the device that is required. The LIVE traffic works fine and the Lifetime map still updates when connected to the PC. The 5100 still gets its all of its updates too including the cameras for life . It is true that the batteries on these units do not now hold a charge but as soon as they are connected to the car or a power supply they work fine. Replacement batteries from a well known online market place and Youtube videos on how to replace them are available. |

I’d forgotten about this post. I meant to update at the time, I managed to get the traffic on my GO6000 by doing a factory reset in the end. _________________ Mike

Shame TomTom can't bring out descent navigation software for Android.
I have TomTom GO for Android and the only thing going for it is you can quickly reroute when you come across a roadblocks etc. When my subscription ends I won’t be renewing as it’s just not worth it.
I still use my 940s (with a RDS-TMC and modded mctx.dat) regularly for crossing across Europe as I need to use itineraries and the PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.
Besides I spent years (from when I had TT GO 700 back in the early 2000s) fine tuning my devices and creating my POIs, icons, splash screens, themes and sound etc which I could move (with a little tweaking) from device to device.
What I find daft is with the last descent PNDs like the 940 etc they’d done all the hard work and arrived at a very comprehensive and effective application.
Can’t be that hard to port it to Android, give it a face lift and allow us to add our own POIs and itineraries etc again. _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |
