Long road trip in uk and mostly great including directional warnings
However, getting warnings from other surrounding locations? ie was on M4 at 70mph and hearing multiple warnings of 30mph surrounding roads?
Is there an adjustment to narrow area around car?
Also , what settings are best range for fixed and mobiles?

Edit just noticed the fine tuning menu. Will this do it and what would be the best settings?

Thanks

Many years ago I had a Talex speed camera device and I found the alert distances perfect. Tales was 14 secs for first alert and 6 secs if you were still over the limit

When they shut down and I switched to Garmin CSV I found the alerts to be far too soon at 36 secs that by the time I'd reached the camera I'd sometimes forgotten about it and on some occasions had accidentally sped up

As for motorway close road warnings, that's just unfortunate and cannot be avoided with some very close roads

The M4 and B3270 in south Reading is a good example where they run parallel past a few cameras

I personally lower each one by 5 so it's 40, 40, 45. And have the warning distance at 25 with an extra 7secs for mobiles.

Generally works well for me with the occasional 30/40 alert on parallel/nearby roads to the motorway.

My default range is 30 seconds, mobiles 40 secs. Fine tunings are 45, 45 and 50.
CamerAlert is a brilliant thing, but it’s not “intelligent“, so it will not exercise discretion (ignore those cameras which are in range but not relevant - those 30mph cameras on roads in towns through which a motorway is passing). Fine tuning can make a bit of difference but for me it’s not worth it. My feeling is that the ranges (30/40 in my case) is the important bit. The range covers two aspects, both the time to camera and distance to camera. Sorry, I’m no good at maths so I can only offer Simple Simon words. When I’m driving at 60mph, I’ll get a camera warning for both 30 seconds ahead AND half a mile ahead, because that’s how far ahead CA is scanning. Even at my age, I can remember a warning for 30 seconds, OR can reduce my speed and hold it down until I see myself pass the camera. The half mile handles the range capability of mobile cameras to ping you from that far away. So, I get those side camera warnings and tolerate them as the price of an otherwise perfect driving aid.
