I have been trying to update the maps in my VW TROC

The Sat Nav is the DISCOVER MEDIA (can just about identify from the poor quality image on their website :-(

I have followed the instructions and extracted the files from the .tar file to a CF card.

It is supposed to start updating when I turn on the ignition, I get "Navigational Database No Available".

Any suggestions about what I am doing wrong?

Hi,
What year is your car. If it’s the discovery media system do you have the sd card in the glovebox?

Vw have done away with the sd card for the newer mib3 unit and it only updates the nav over the air. Prior to mib3 (2021 and earlier) vw discovery units had the sd card to update the map.

If you have the sd card version you just download the new map data from vw website. You have to put the data onto the original vw sd card as it has a security (cid) signature that mates the card to the head unit.

Post some more info on your setup and I might be able to help.

It is DISCOVER MEDIA but is the older MIB2.

I have getting advice from people on a VW TROC forum but no luck. I had bought an update previously so had a spare VW card but not been able to update that.

I think I think will just have to buy an update but will wait until I have any long journeys planned.

Very unimpressed with VW's system.

Whose maps do they use, is it possible to submit corrections? I sometime set the Sat Nav just to get the ETA but it always tried to direct me up a back street near home which I obviously ignore but would be nice to get that corrected along with a few other mapping errors or at least navigational errors.

Updating your maps is genuinely really easy if your on mib2 and have the original sd card.

Here is the link to the vw download site:

https://app-connect.volkswagen.com/mapupdates/en/car/#/

Pick your vehicle, then the model year, then the head unit and select a map bundle to download. If your in the uk I’d suggest bundle 2. That will download the map data in a zip file. Unzip it and then put your original sd card into your pc and copy the unzipped files onto the sd. card, effectively overwriting the map folder on the card with the new map folder.

That’s it, put the card back into the head unit in the car and you’ll have the new maps loaded.

Where are you located, I’ve assumed the uk, but if not then you would select the region that you want, eg, Eastern Europe etc.

I managed to update the T-ROC memory card today but I am puzzled.

The version number previously was

5NA919866 DS
2110
ECE AS 2024

But now reads

5NA919866 CH
1910
ECE E1 2023

That looks like an older version from the numbers?

I will take the card out again tomorrow and look at the dates of the files.

You have definitely gone backwards. Where did you download the old map version from? Vw only host the latest version and this is the map history:

Map version 0635 is ECE1 2016/2017 released May 2017
Map version 0915 is ECE1 2018 released Nov 2017
Map version 1030 is ECE1 2018/2019 released May 2018
Map version 1115 is ECE1 2019/2020 released Nov 2018
Map version 1310 is ECE1 2020 released may 2019
Map version 1430 is ECE1 2020/2021 released Nov 2019
Map version 1520 is ECE1 2021/2022 released Nov 2020
Map version 1730 is ECE1 2022 released June 2021
Map version 1810 is ECE1 2022/23 released Nov 2021
Map version 1910 is ECE1 2023 released June 2022
Map version 2010 is ECE1 2023/24 released Dec 2022
Map version 2110 is ECE1 2024 released June 2023
Map version 2210 is ECE1 2024/25released Dec 2023

Version 2210 is the latest available and hosted on the vw portal.

Thanks, all sorted now!

I don't how I got the different versions mixed up, must have been old version on the computer and I picked it up by accident. Deleted them all now!

I wish I could find a new bit of road to check it displayed on the maps!
