|
|
hi i have the Garmin dezl lgv610 and for some unknown reason i lost all my favourites that i had saved on the device.
I came home and plugged it in to the laptop to do a restore on the backup file but it still didnt restore my favourites. with the help of google maps of where i go on my routes i have managed to manually put the m back in the satnav.
i have created a new folder for the backups.
the main question now is where about when i plug the satnav into the computer and go in to the file folders can i find where the favourites files are stored.
thanks Dave |

A copy of your data is in a folder named GPX and the file is current.gpx
Note I said a copy, it's a one way copy of the actual data that is in inaccessible memory, and you can load it into BaseCamp and see all your data should you so wish. You can even delete current.gpx but it'll be rewritten by your device on reboot.
You say though you tried to restore your data from a backup, how did you do that? If you simply placed an old current.gpx file in the GPX folder that won't work, as I said current.gpx is a one way copy and your device never reads from that file. You have to rename it to something different, eg temp.gpx, as any .gpx file other than current.gpx will be read by your device.
I'm surprised though to hear all your data has simply disappeared as that's not something I've heard of before. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

i plugged it in to garmin express and went to the tools and content then utilities and dont a restore backup and that still didnt restore the favourites.
i wanted to see the favourites file so i could maybe make a back up of it on my laptop incase it happens again.
