From today, 17th September, most 30 mph roads in Wales have been reduced to 20 mph
When will the database be updated to reflect this?
Cheers

It's on my list of things to work through but speaking to a friend in Pontypridd he says it's not an overall change as there are still a number of areas that are being kept as 30mph (albeit now with signposts / repeaters). So it can't be a straight-forward mass-change of 30 to 20.
It's gonna have to be an ongoing process with local knowledge in play. Or hope that OSM get their roadspeeds data updated as we can also make use of that.
Basically, people need to help!

Right, I have spent about 4 hours today* working out how to use the Welsh Government data (from here https://datamap.gov.wales/maps/roads-affected-by-changes-to-the-speed-limit-on-re/embed#/) in the submissions map. I will work through some of these when I get time but if anyone with some spare time can assist with submitting changes to cameras.
The key for the colours is:
ORANGE
national_20mph_restricted - national 30 to national 20
Official description: "roads that are 20mph by virtue of legislation (restricted roads)"
YELLOW
national_30mph_existing - was 30, staying 30
Official description: "roads that are currently 30mph by Order and will stay at 30mph"
LIGHT/MEDIUM/DARK BLUE (stage 1, stage 2, stage 3) - national_20mph_exception_order - *could* become 20 if council apply for exemption
Official description: "roads that are 20mph by Order"
PINK/RED/BURGUNDY (stage 1, stage 2, stage 3) - national_30mph_order - 30mph *could* stay 30 if council apply for exemption
Official description: "roads remaining at 30mph speed limit ('exceptions')"

Feel free to organise yourselves into groups and target areas so we're not repeating each other's work! |

Also, if you can include the word 'wales' or 'wales 20' in the comments so I can filter them en-masse in the database later if needed. |

The signage in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire is a shambles and I can testify that some of the supposed changes in the maps are inaccurate. I spend all my working day on the road and I think they should not be blanket changed.
Many Gatso's have been removed over the last six months with rumours that average speed camera's are going to be introduced. I do need to check some more statics for removals but it's a matter of getting round to it when work brings me to the relevant areas. |
