I'm looking for a GPS data logger that can provide me with GPX files as I drive around Europe in my van. I don't need real time tracking and I don't need a SIM based system.
I looked at some of the OBD based systems but they all seem to require a SIM and a subscription.
Does anyone know if there is anything out there that I could use that does require a subscription? If you be great if it stopped and started with the van.
The irony is the van already has a tracker fitted but I cannot get GPX files out of the system.
Thanks for your help |

If you have an old-ish smart phone that CamerAlert still works on, Track Logging in GPX format is supported.
Settings - Advanced Settings - Record Track.
You can even complete the next field with your eMail address and have them forwarded to you.
Edited to add
I also use the Jog Tracker and Ride with GPS apps on my Android phone. Both of these record tracks. There must be others to do what you need. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks AliOnHols,
Yeah I could use RideWithGPS, but I was looking for something a bit more automated. For instance the OBD system know when the ignition is switched on and they start recording when the vehicle starts moving.. The trouble is they need a SIM card and a subscription so they can save the data to a Cloud server.
I guess my use case is quite unusual.. |

Yes, it depends on your requirements.
For me Google Maps Timeline is all I need. _________________ DashCam:

If you can't / don't want to use a phone then you could look at some of the tech used by people on track days. Companies like Qstarz make data loggers primarily for track use but you could use them for regular travel. |
