Which speed camera download................

I have a VW Tiguan Nav 2018 with Volkswagen Navigation with AS, Europe
SD card in the Nav system.
I have no idea if this site supports my system or not or how to do it as I would like to load the speed cameras on.

Hi Ned52,

to the forum!

This is a boilerplate reply to people asking whether the PGPSW speed camera database will work in their built-in SatNav.

It is unlikely that your vehicle’s built-in navigation system will accept either the PocketGPSWorld camera database or any custom Points of Interest (POIs) because in the last few years motor manufactures have been removing the ability to add custom POIs to their built-in navigation systems.

Have you checked the online manual for the navigation system? Alternatively, you could ask in an online forum for your vehicle’s make and model. You need to establish:

1. Whether you can add custom POIs
   
2. If you can add custom POIs, what the file type and format is.
   
3. Can you add icons (to show on the map)? If so, the file type.
   
4. Whether you can allocate proximity alerts to the POIs and how to do that.
   
5. Can you add sound files for Proximity alert warnings and if so the file type?

Even if you can do 1-3 and 5 above, The POIs are of no use for camera warnings unless you can also do 4.

You may find that it’s easier to use a smartphone. If you have an iPhone then you can use the CamerAlert app. If you have an Android then you can use either the CamerAlert app or the SpeedTrap Alert app.

The latest trend by car manufacturers is to allow smartphone to car connections where you can stream alerts via the car audio.

This is where Speedtrap Alert comes into play for me.
