Just received a carrier update today (after a disasterous 3.2.1 update!) that changed my APN from three.co.uk to 3internet. Does anybody know if I should leave this setting or put it back as it was?

One of the things to do is get a speed test app and try it with both settings. You may find that they are exactly the same in which case I would stay with the 3internet one as they seem to recommend it. If you find this is slower switch back.

Bear in mind that your old setting may stop working, or may have restricted functionality sometime in the future.

Thanks guys. Does the change get written to the SIM, or is it just in the iPad settings?

WARNING! I think the carrier update must write to the SIM. I just put my SIM back into my mobile dongle and it no longer works in my PC. It says no SIM card recognised. Even when I change the APN back to three.co.uk on my iPad it still doesn't work with the dongle. So don't accept the iPad carrier update if you want to continue to use the SIM in your dongle.

Hi,I know this is a very old post, but it seems the closest to my problem.I have a non-cellular non-GPS iPad and I want to use an external Blue tooth GPS - there is an EMTAC CRUX II BTGPS on eBay that I’d like to try to have Navionics & SavyNavy available as back up navigation for sailing.I just want to see if it works.Does anyone know if it will connect easily simply taking the GPS info as if it were a GPS enabled iPad or is some software interface required?
