Got mine at Dabs too...got for a real bargain though. I logged onto the site a bit over a week ago and it was advertised there for £379 (inc vat)!!! I put the order in immediately, thinking that there must be a mistake. The next day the price was up to £449 (still a bargain).
The unit was delivered on time when stock arrived on Wednesday this week. They honoured the price I ordered it at and I am a very happy owner (still struggling with the Gatso POI's though). Well done Dabs - high respect points to you.
Gonna have another go at the POI's having read PaulWildsmith's comments. Then I will throw my PC out of the window. |

I have to say - I WAS lucky! What a great bit of kit tho.
icsys - I was having trouble last night trying to get the files I downloaded to be recognised by POI edit. However, now I've read the most recent posts about all tis, I've calmed down and am ready to have another go.
One thing tho, I assume that when I open POI edit, I then create a new text file, name it and then 'Open Text File' which should be one of the files I downloaded. That should then open in POI edit and then it is saved as a new file or am I doing this all wrong? OR do I just open a text file and after it's been edited, save it as whatever.
I'm not completely hopeless with computers but this is really confusing. |

I haven't actually tried POI Edit.
The simplest way I have found is to download POI Converter from this site (a very simple and straightforward utility) then extract the ov2 file from the camera zip file.
Open the ov2 file with POI Converter then save it as Autoroute PushPin csv This will ensure the names are in quotes.
Open this new csv in Notepad and remove the first line (lat, long, name) then save it.
The resulting csv file will then load straight in via the Navman POI Editor.
This will work for any ov2 file. _________________ Ian.

Cool! I'll give it a go as soon as I get home. Um...where do I find the POI Converter? |

It worked well thanks! I ended up using the POI Converter to open and convert the ov2 files into csv's. However in Wordpad, I found that there was a column left over of " " which was impossible to delete line by line. Eventually, I opened the file in Excel and the " " were in a separate column. I was able to delete the column then resave it (without converting it to an Excel'97 format - very important!) The files were then easily loaded into POI Edit and onto the Navman. |

This method works with most other ov2 POI's too! _________________ Ian.

For all you (us) Yanks looking for a good deal on the US version of the ICN 510, I just ordered one from PlanetGPS.net in the states for $427.95 plus about $10 UPS ground shipping. I even asked a question late at night by email and had a reply within an hour or so.
From what I could tell, that's one of the best prices around, although I also saw it advertised from Shopperwiz.com for a comparably competitive price (I prefer to frequent dedicated resellers for the knowledge and confidence factor).
Cheers! :D |
