I wish I could attach a photo. I have a dark blue usb device that says USB G.P.S. on it. It's about 3" x 1" and it has a chip inside that says RoyalTek on it, as well as some other stuff that I can't read except under RoyalTek it looks like it says REG. The dark blue cover is semi-transparent, so it's difficult to read. I'd like to know exactly what this device is, what it does, and how I can use it, if at all. I assume a driver is needed, but I don't know which one. Any replies appreciated. |

Possibly a USB-powered GPS receiver. I suspect it would have been designed for use with an old PDA or pocket PC so you could run navigation software on it. |

Thanks for the replies. I eventually found some references to it. Looks like it should interact with PC software that looks for it on COM8. I got it to work with some telescope software, but it took so long that it's not really useful. Maybe I'll find a way to speed it up. |

If it's not been used for years then it would take longer to get an initial fix to find the satellite.
Try it again to see if it's as slow - it could just be that because it's older that it's just not as sensitive. |
