I know this has come up in a previous post but try as I can I can't seem to find it. I would like to change the speed settings to achieve the most desirable route what have other people found as their best settings? |

>the most desirable route<
IMHO it would be best if TT had several speed tables depending on the 'mode'.
For example, today I wanted to detour around a roadblock, specifying 2 miles. TT3 send me on a lengthy route using 'A' roads, rather than rat-running along back-streets.
When routing around a roadblock, perhaps it should use a speed table of nearly equal values? Of course, for route-planning you would want the default values.
I would also like to have a 'city centre' class of road which could be set to be about 1omph so TT3 would avoid. It doesn't seem to be very smart at choosing the ring-roads... |

While we're at it. what is the formal definition of the road types (OK - I get some of them, Motorways aren't too hard!) |

James - your question is a good one. The reality is that TT do not say what the relationship of 'their' roads to 'our' roads are. What I mean is that TT use the term 'Important Local Roads' , for example, but you can't relate these to any particular road type - such as B Roads.
I asked TT because programming the speeds/roads is necessary with a large vehicle to avoid small roads but TT simply tell me that their product is aimed at Cars and not larger vehicles like my RV - so basically - tough!
You might look at the Forum in the 'Pocket GPS Lounge' called 'HGV/MotorHome Lounge'
Some people have published speeds which they find work with larger vehicles but I must say that my experience is that they rarely work in my case. |
