Ah, but had you seen the original comment of mine, I was talking about limits that have been raised and not integrated into the database. So you are now saying I should still be doing 50 in a now NSL limit? |
I thought this was clearly where an old roadworks section had finished and was now back to 70 but not yet updated here. Going to happen.
I'll be doing the M4 in about an hour from junctions 3 to 10 but I'm sure this will be WIP for some time yet. _________________ DashCam:

Please clarify and save us all from this guesswork and conjecture and possibly suggesting solutions (that may or may not give you relief) to problems that possibly don't actually exist. |

Not necessarily. A few roadworks sections now are being uprated from 50mph to 60mph as they progress. Driving through 10 miles of overspeed is a tad annoying. I don't touch the phone while driving so can't experiment, have adjusted all the settings I can find (the ones mentioned by the developer don't appear on my app), but it still sounds. Yes, it is going to happen, but it is annoying nonetheless. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

Just turn off the overspeed warning for SPECS. You are obviously a competent driver who abides by the speed limit and who is fully able to control your speed, so do you really need a SPECS overspeed warning at all in any SPECS section?
If you have your phone visible, you get an average speed readout.
Settings ~ Alerts ~ Average speed check ~ Speed excess warning ~ Sound effect = None. Does that not fix it? Or is that just overspeed on the approach which would be about as much use as tits on a bull. I'll have to run my GPS emulator at it later. |

I hadn't noticed that setting, I had the warning set to 0, must've missed that I could change that one. Will give it a go next time. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

I may be losing it but isn't there an option to download a basic map and, of so, how do you do it please? |

You are. There is not. It runs 'on the top' of Google maps. |

Hi.
Next beta version, code 86, name "1.1.28 beta". Just published, will be available within couple of hours.
New:
Improved average speed check. Now the app builds (tries to build) full av. zone of chained SPECS. Previous version only finds closest SPECS. Length of predicted route has been extended x1.5 times in order to cover typical av. zone (20-30 mi) completely. Road network required.

Thanks Leo
I guess this is related to the M4 / A329(M) possible bug I found ?
I'll be doing that section again next Monday morning, 6th Jul, I'll report back.
Next investigation.
I don't know if anyone else has had this, but, I've had a few occasions where I've been driving the M4 (road not important) and passed a camera with no warning. When I glance down at the phone STA has turned off.
I've not used the phone for anything else, just fired up STA at journey start and left it alone in its holder. _________________ DashCam:

Yes, it is.

STA was in the foreground (on top), screen was on?
Week ago I got STA crash during a voice call. I picked up the phone using car radio button (via BT), then I noticed that STA disappeared. Surely, there were cameras while I was talking and attempts to speak alert/display popup. Problem is somewhere around speaking/displaying alert, however I couldn't reproduce it running under GPS emulator and calling to mysef from another phone. Problem is being investigated now. |

Hi Leo
I always use the speedo only display. The phone is in a Brodit active mount for Samsung Galaxy S10. No inbound or outbound call activity or phone touched for anything. The phone isn't in my line of sight so I don't spot it happening.
It doesn't happen very often and when it does it's just once per journey.
What I have just remembered though is that when I go to tap the STA icon to restart it there is a 'notification' marker on the icon, but whilst driving, checking what it is is impossible and it always seems to be on the M4 so I can't pull over to check..
Because I'm losing the speedo and alerts it's presumably cancelled both. How sensitive is the HFT 'Stop Application and Service' feature. Could that perform a double check with a small time lapse (assuming that's what's happening). _________________ DashCam:

The notification marker is to tell you that the STA service is running and can't be dismissed. Couch test it and see. |
