I can also add that Cereproc TTS works, at least for me! Every time I approach a speed camera I have the lovely liltingly-Irish tones of Caitlin - which really grinds my wife's gears!
PS; she only cost 59p on the Google Play store, and there's a good variety of accents and languages. |

Hi,
Next beta version (1.1.27 code 83) is available.
What's new:
App settings - Bluetooth.
Now not only one BT-device can auto start the app. It is possible to select multiple devices.
BT auto start now can launch background alert service (as before) or app UI (map or speedo) with the alert service. |

@Leo_A - you have a typo, it says, in the Bluetooth section, "Start appication", not application.
Also, after passing camera 198820, joining M4 eastbound, I'm getting an ExitSpecs every time, regardless of speed, which is usually just under 50mph.
We had this before and you solved it but it's come back, not unique to this latest release but seemed to concide with the change to recognising the ExitSpecs.
All I can deduce is that the ExitSpecs (191814) direction isn't being used as it's 90 degrees off my direction of travel when it triggers ?
Here is a link to download my dashcam MP4 that demonstrates the issue. It's right at the start of this footage. It announces me joining the 50mph average speed zone then it's almost immediately cancelled by a "end of average speed check", all in the sound:

|
|
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but don't know where else it should go.
I'm an ex CamerAlert user on Samsung S9 and have purchased STA as a replacement. BUT - it won't work in the background even though I have followed the instructions https://speedtrap-alert.com/online-help/android/work-in-the-background/samsung/. I use Google Maps for directions and when STA is running in the background after a minute or two the floating icon freezes and doesn't update.
Is there a fix for this? TIA |

Android 10 has new kind of permission for accessing location : "Allow all the time", "Allow only while using the app".
Open phone settings, then Apps, find STA there and tap it. There is the "Permission" item, tap it, then "Location".
Make sure "Allow all the time" is checked. |

Is there a way to turn off overspeed sounds please? I have Speed excess tuned off in limits and tolerance is set to maximum on all settings. App is still giving me grief when i am travelling through areas that had cameras, but now have none and are awaiting the database update. Gets a bit annoying.

Hi.
New beta-version release. Version code 85, version name 1.1.28 beta.
What's new:
Voice alerts for overspeeding (for BT hands-free mode users), bug fixes. That's all.
There is new checkbox
If checked together with some sound effect, then sound prepends speech. Voice alert goes with interval of 6 sec if speed is high.
The app speaks "Too fast". I'll appreciate advices for better phrase.

Yes, two ways: app settings \ alerts, then
a) set speed excess distance to zero. No any overspeed alert
b) set sound effect in this section to "none". No sound, but brighter alert banner and red speedometer. |

Thanks Leo for update have switched it to voice.
Any alert needs to be short and to the point so will see what other suggestions come forward.
Unsure whether it is a result of updating the app or whether the files have been updated but the road network files on downloading them are dated 31/05/2020 which is version 1.8 unsure what they were previously.
Not that I have any capacity issues with my phone but could the app be run from SD card rather than internal phone storage. _________________ Malcolm

Road network for UK was updated today too. So, v1.8 is ok, it's new version.
SD card - yes, with time. |

Thanks for the update Leo. My choice for the overspeed would be "Slow down".
But personally, I prefer the attention grabbing wake up call of a Jobro.
I don't have a 'second' warning set on mobiles as there is no point. They will have 'got you' by the time the second warning kicks in. |

I don't have mobiles active because they can be anywhere and everywhere. When I did run with them I was getting dozens more unnecesssry warnings, some back to back.
Maybe if mobiles only warned you if you are speeding so in my case they would be mainly quiet. _________________ DashCam:
