Hopefully this is the right place to post this.

Anyone heard of, or can indicate quality of Aguri Speedshield speed camera database?

I am a PGPSW subscriber and use PGPSW in my soon to be deprecated TomToms before I move to Garmin but considering this for a Dashcam. The DX 1000 looks remarkably similar to the RAC 05 Dashcam which seems to have been abandoned but without any announcement.

Yes, I know other dash cams are available including BlackVue & Thinkware but question is specifically about Aguri Speedshield.

Hi johnnym100,

Sorry, I've not heard of the Aguri Speedshield speed camera database.

TBH, I wouldn't think that it is as good as the PGPSW one that you're used to.

Also, I tried an RAC 03 dashcam, which was the rearview mirror dashcam. I didn't think much of it. It was a jack of all trades and in a poor way!

I'd rather used dedicated units for Dashcam, SatNav, speed camera database, etc.

I recommend that you you use a smartphone running the PGPSW camera database.

Yes, I know that you know that there are other dashcams out there, but I recommend that you look at the Viofo A119 V3 - it's very good and affordable.

Regards,

Thanks. I wouldn’t expect to it be as good as PGPSW - that’s why I subscribe, and contribute where I can. Perhaps for clarity; how does it compare to known brands such as Road Angel or Cyclops.

Curious that the Viofo seems to do super high resolution in portrait mode - even my 16:9 landscape has too much sky.

Agree with RAC 03 but thats a separate story and thread.

For routes used often there isn’t a need for a SatNav so a camera warning dash cam reduces windscreen/gadget baggage. Ditto for CameraAlert app.
