CamerAlert hasn't opened since I upgraded to Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus 5G in November. I assumed the app would be updated to work with current Android but it still hasn't happened.
You need a support contact email on Play Store that isn't a lie. You just wasted 15 minutes of my day that I don't have available to lose. |

People wold likely tried to offer to help had you asked for it instead of just sounding off. |

I think perhaps he wanted somebody to offer help upgrading CamerAlert to work on his phone. Far as I can see, the only help available (from the likes of you) would have been how to work around the problem, not solve it. _________________ Dennis

It's a shame CA died on recent Samsung phones but the workaround is perfectly acceptable to me.
It's only the database update that's a faff, the 'app' works very well. _________________ DashCam:

Like I said, I don’t think the OP is interested in faff and he clearly doesn’t think the ‘app’ works very well. You’re talking at cross purposes. The app actually doesn’t work at all is perhaps more accurate. _________________ Dennis

Now it's you Dennis. K was referring to the SpeedTrap Alert app, and the faff of updating the database for that.
And if he wanted help, he seemed extremely reluctant to ask for it. |

It’s not me. This forum has the title CamerAlert on Android. The OP wanted help with that. You might just as well advise him to reverse the update he installed. He has the choice of that, but maybe he thinks CamerAlert ought to be updated. Wouldn’t surprise me, after all I hold the same view regarding CamerAlert for iOS.
Not being an Android user, I don’t know if he is right, but he infers that there’s a link for help which seems not to be monitored I’d suggest that qualifies as asking for help and he only sounded off when that proved to be fruitless. I know how he feels! _________________ Dennis

The OP's Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be running the, fatal to CA, combination of Android 10 and Samsung UI 2 which won't allow CA to even start.
As more people get newer Samsungs these sort of threads will continue.
Sadly there are no 'official' replies _________________ DashCam:

Problem is, subscribers pay for the database and not the app, they seem to forget that, there are a few on the Play Store feedback stating what a waste of money the app is. I think the fact it is supplied with a one off database which the user chooses to purchase further updates if they like, doesn't realise, as it is not made clear on the Play store. The database can be used in any compatible device or app. I don't remember seeing all this vitriol against the database when TomTom stopped supporting 3rd party POI's and alerts. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

I’m an Elderly, so I can remember the time when you’d have been told subscribers pay for membership of Pgpsw, which entitles them, amongst other things, to download the database. Then along came CamerAlert with in-app purchases of database on iOS, then later, on Android.
So now, CA only runs with the Pgpsw database. If you’ve bought a subscription, it’s just silly semantics to discus whether you’ve bought CA, or the database. And if the combination stops working because CA hasn’t been updated in line with smartphone OSs, you have every justification to grumble, complain that you’re not getting what you’ve paid for. Even worse if you try to get answers, but nobody even acknowledges your concern.
Just saying. _________________ Dennis

I hear what you are saying Dennis, I was just saying how I remember signing up originally, CA didn't exist and it was a welcome free addition for me.
If enough people complain to Google about the app, it will potentially be removed anyway without any intervention from PGPSW. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

The official reply has bee sent to the user in question via the support ticket that was opened due to them emailing the support address in the Play Store.
