If the distance to a camera is less than 220 yd (200 meters), "time to camera" setting is ignored. Perhaps, that's why you're getting 3-5 seconds alert.

"just passed the camera" is the special part of the app algorithm. Geolocations are discrete with the interval of 1 second. If previous location was before the cam and current location is after and the cam is closer than 30 meters to the line connecting these two locations, then the app triggers an event "just passed". This event initiates and stops av .calc. Though there are some other events that stop av. calc, but only "just passed" initiates. |

Yes, only "end of av. speed zone". Nothing else. |

Thanks Leo. I must get my Mock Locations running against my test SPECS then. |

All good stuff
I've always run my camera devices with 15 secs for first alert and 6 secs for any subsequent overspeed warning.
Those 2 timings were taken from my first device, a Talex, and I found those distances to be perfect for me.
With Specs I don't see the point of that much warning as you don't get clocked until the second camera so just a few secs warning to slow down I consider sufficient. _________________ DashCam:

I've tweaked 191814
191815 has a direction of 270 degrees so will not affect the main carriageway
191816 has a direction of 10 degrees so will not affect the main carriageway |
I remain sceptical. I would have only placed two exitspecs :
51.43339,-0.86205 Heading 320
51.42928,-0.84661 Heading 112 |
If 191814 and 815 are (after tweaking) "correct", why is my CA discontinuing warnings and calculation as I drive between approx 51.43463,-0.84824 until specs 198459?
My settings are :-
Default Range 30 seconds
Warning cone 45 degrees
Warning sensitivity 50 _________________ Dennis

On my Android I also have 'Direction difference (degrees)', that is set to 28.
If this is too large, it can trigger false alerts.
I'm presuming that Apple phones have this setting also. _________________ Richard

That’s what is the Warning cone (degrees difference from my heading) and is why I reported it. According to the user manual, a ‘normal ‘ setting would be half way along the setting bar, guessing 50, but if it were half a right angle , it would be 45. Either 45 or 50 gets 191815 and 816 inside the main carriageway cone I guess. That’s why I think those particular Exitspecs should be better positioned.
All three of the settings can trigger false alerts of course. I’m OK with false alerts, but I don’t want false Exitspecs. _________________ Dennis

In 'Manage Cameras' does it show anything for 'My Cameras' or 'Cameras on Device' (sorry, can't receall the exact phrase used). I'm wondering if you are getting the alerts stopping or starting due to cameras you have submitted that are still on your device. |

These SPECS are not mistakes?
SPECS:196206@40
SPECS:199924@40
Where it is better to ask such questions? Submission page, field 'Details & description' is ok to write there and sent entry then?
Another thing I noticed - there are forgotten EXITSPECS present in the database. Av. zone most likely was removed, but EXITSPECS remained.

MaFt, there’s nothing in “my cameras” and “my reports”. _________________ Dennis

@Leo_a @MaFt
Re the two 40MPH SPECS. They probably are and there are 'remove requests' for both of them. Neither of them have got 'mates' and one is a Start with no End and the other is an End with no Start. |

Forgive my piggerance, but is there a 'warning cone' or 'direction difference' setting in STA? If there is, I can't find it and, having just done my first major test of STA on a 500 mile round trip, it's the one feature I really needed: I was picking up a number of warnings from cameras etc which were clearly not of a type or speed for the road that I was on.
I am aware of, and use successfully, these settings in CA. |

No.
Direction difference - 30 degrees initially and 45 degrees when a camera is captured (for better retention at lower speeds when car direction is jumping).
Warning cone - no constant cone, there is a little different algorithm. When we have a point on the surface and associated direction, it is possible to draw a line. The app 'draws' such line for a camera and calculates deviation of the car location from the line. Value of the deviation depends on speed. Table below demonstrates this dependence.
Mph Yd
20 82
30 82
40 84
50 90
60 98
70 107
80 115
90 122
100 128
There are three conditions to met for camera warning:
Direction difference < 30
Deviation < [value from the table above]
Distance < [value from 'time to camera' setting] |

Judging by the other local cameras having been removed I would hazard a guess that yes they need to be removed now.

Correct - they generally stay in the database. They don't have any effect on any cameras anyway and can be useful to keep in place if average speed cameras are put in place again on that stretch |
