Hi K,
Many thanks for the link to the file that I have now downloaded and viewed via Dashcam Viewer.
The quality is excellent and much better than what I can get from my RoadHawk dashcams, even the latest DC3 can only record at 1080p. The downside is that it's double the storage at 201 MB per minute. Although I guess that that might be optimised by bitrate and even using H.265 Encoding if Dashcam Viewer can cope with it. Although it's probably best to keep to H.264 as then anybody can view the footage without worry.

Yes, the files are large but that's a linked to the quality. 575Mb for 3 minutes
What I've done for my next run out to Reading and back tomorrow is set it to 1080@60.
Just interested to see any difference in quality and filesize given my PC monitor is only 1080. _________________ DashCam:

Robert
As promised, a 1080@60 for your comments.
I'm not sure, but, oncoming number plates are clearer, although this clip is on the M4 so there aren't any. I haven't uploaded the same stretch of road as yesterday because it was facing the sun so not like for like.
See what you think:

Hi K,
Thanks for the 1080@60 video. Both videos look crystal clear.
I think that I prefer the 1440 view as opposed to the 1080 one, although this is probably because I run 1080 (which is the maximum) on my RoadJHawk.
1080@60 is good for slow-motion playback but not necessary for dashcam IMO. Movies generally film at 24FPS so 30FPS is OK. Also, 1080@60 takes twice as much file size as 1080@30, so I'd prefer 1440@30.
What bitrate have you used for 1440@30 and for 1080@60? Have you tried changing bitrate?
My laptop is a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) with a native resolution of 2880 x 1800 although I normally run it at 1440 x 900 unless I'm connecting it to a projector when I set the MacBook Pro to match the native resolution of the projector.

That 1440@30 was at medium bitrate. Don't know how because I always set it to high. Some other setting must have changed it. The 1080@60 was high.
I've set it back to 1440 and high bitrate. Next journey out to Reading is tomorrow so I'll check when I offload it. _________________ DashCam:

Does the A119 V3 have a config file that it saves on the micro SD card? _________________ Robert.

No
Each firmware update and you need to go through all the settings again.
No big deal though. _________________ DashCam:

Given that sticks out like a sore thumb that just shows the lack of road policing.
Nextbase have links on their site for sending dashcam footage to the various forces.

At one stage we were overtaken by a bat out of hell running on blues and twos. When I saw it coming in my rearview I vaguely hoped it was for video man, but it was not to be. _________________ Dennis

I agree. It's also better and cheaper than any of the Nextbase models I've had.
Main advantages are, solid mounting solution, top notch Sony QuadHD sensor, very discrete and dedicated CPL filter.
Other benefits are that all the info is embedded within the video including lat/long in decimal degrees, just what we need for verification. _________________ DashCam:

Yes, only today I was going through my list of local pending sites that need verification and I found one in Bicester that I had driven past a few days ago. A quick look back at my dashcam footage in glorious 2K of the location was all that I needed in order to make a decision.
