Sorry if I muddied the waters a bit. I was referring to when you don't use the phone speaker, but connect it to the car's audio system by Bluetooth.
OK, so when you do an armchair check and change the voice, you get the prompt from the phone's speaker OK?
If you do the same in the car, can you still hear the prompt? |

I have carried out more "experiments" this AM in house and in car. I believe that I was previously using the phone speaker with default set. I have decided that I don't want to use BT so I have set it to Device speaker. I want to preferably use the male voice because my satnav uses a female voice. I have found today that very often the male voice has almost no sound on All Clear setting & sometimes the female voice too.
I am beginning to think that perhaps I should delete CA and reinstall it. I really do need CA now having bought a new TomTom.

Well I have deleted and reinstalled CA and used it while doing multiple shops today (not enjoyable!) I still cannot get CA to talk to me while driving. I have reexamined the CA Manual but I am baffled. I note that there is no Troubleshooting section yet so if anyone can give me a clue how to get a voice alert going again (either male or female) I would be very grateful.

OK. Let's start again as your diagnostics so far don't seem to make a lot of sense to me and you haven't answered previous questions.
Q1. When you do an 'armchair' check and change the voice, do you get the prompt from the phone's speaker OK?
Q2. If you do the same in the car, with the car running, can you still hear the prompt?
Q3. You said that you get the 'All clear' but at low volume. Is this correct?
Q4. When in the car, are any prompts etc. that you are getting come from the phone speaker?
Q5. Please try to be a bit clearer on what you are getting and what you are not getting.
To get the sound from the phone speaker, go to Settings ~ Advanced ~ Audio output and set it to Device speaker. Now change a voice from Female to Male (or reverse) See Q1.
Now do the same in the car. See Q2 |

Hi, because of last week's server crash page 2 of this topic disappeared taking 2 of my posts (& others) with it. This is just to thank M8TJT & others for their help in sorting out my issues with CA on my MotoG4.
I took your advice to ensure that Bluetooth was switched off and have now done numerous trips including a weekend away in North Wales. Before the server crash I only got 1 voice alert in 4 short local trips. However, on the North Wales trips I was really surpised when the voice suddenly reappeared. It now seems that the voice alert works about 85-90% of the time which I am going to accept without more fiddling about.
Thanks again, jack. |
