Took it out for its maiden voyage today.
Very impressed. Clear higher resolution screen and it gives an amber warning banner for things like a school up ahead, speed limit change looming with a distance countdown. All useful info.
Definately a step up from my 2x99 models. _________________ DashCam:

We can still use them but not with military grade accuracy. |

But the first thing that you did with my old satnav was to rip my carefully placed anti reflective matte finish 'filter' off. Doh. |

Looking at buying a new satnav, the Zumo 550 I bought in 2011 is getting on a bit and getting rid of the bike, so just need one for the car. I need to plan routes as towing, this is looking good, but a bit confused about the letters, I want lifetime maps, and digital traffic for life? Not logging into my mobile phone as I will be using it in Europe etc.
So DS61 LMT-D gives me large screen, live traffic via ? and lifetime maps?
I will be running this in a Jaguar XF which is a bit notorious for blocking satnav signals with the heated screen. |

What's the question mark for after your Amazon link? Just to keep us on our toes? |

The reception in my XF isn't bad, once locked on. I have my Garmin 2599 on a beanbag mount in the low rhs corner of the screen. Perhaps it can get some satellite signals through the side window from there.
(I cannot load the PGPSW database to the built-in satnav, so it lies unused).

Thank you all, thanks Dale, sounds like it will work, I got the database on the in car system, its a right faff and you cannot alter warning distance so its about 3 seconds, not much use really. I use the one for android ATM. |

Got it today, its a bit big, but then thats my choice, however the thing is a nightmare to update, it connects to the computer then disconnects, never shows up in basemap. Tried updating the maps via USB and half way through decides to disconnect.
Now I get a corrupt map error, no updates available via wifi.
I love the Garmin system and software when it works, but this is getting ridiculous
Any clues as to where I am going wrong, computer is home built and has my confidence, just lacking in Garmin ATM.
Close to just returning all to Amazon TBH. |
