Yes, but the crucial word isn't there, FREE. I have had further contact with Halfords who have said:
Quote: | The product does not come with lifetime updates. However, it does come with regular map updates of the UK, Ireland and Full Europe. These are something you would potentially have to pay for, you would need to check directly with Garmin. |
I have cancelled my order now with Halfords, but have gone back to Argos as they have stated that the maps are lifetime and free.

Disappointed with the lack of Garmin customer service . They haven't replied to my messages asking the question about the maps. I realise it was a holiday weekend, but a quick yes or no is all it would have taken to solve the problem. I ended up with the DS51 LMT-D Europe (why don't they just do Western Europe any more?), but would have preferred the bigger screen of the 55. At £147 delivered, Currys had the best deal on the day, just got the joys of setting up when it arrives now.

Easy set up when you already have a Garmin. Doesn't look all that different to my 2569, a slight difference in menus and that's about it. All ready for Monday morning now, although I am struggling with the voice commands as it doesn't appear to navigate to custom POI's by voice _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 51 LMT-D Europe |

So their reply is about as much use as tits on a bull then?
Seems about par for the course. I have never heard anyone getting eny sense whatsoever from Garmin (and others) CS.
It usually totally ignores anything you have said and tells you to reset the device (even if you say that you have done that) which invariably makes no difference as you have already 'done that'. |

Garmin CS used to be very good, but it's slowly gone downhill _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
