My trusty 1005 is sadly on it's last legs and really needs to be retired. I have seen a site on eBay selling factory refurbished sealed box 1005's with lifetime maps and 2 years live services. If I bought one of these would TomTom still provide support for it?

....and now even 4GB memory devices like an M8 GO 920 have been sneaked into to this EoL joke. what excuse this time.

"Your device is a TomTom GO 920 with 4GB memory and it updates through TomTom HOME

Important: Your device is no longer supported through phone , and it's not possible to buy new maps and services for your device."

PS and the J6 GO 930 too!

....and even MORE (some with 4GB internal memory & SD card slot FFS):-
https://discussions.tomtom.com/en/discussion/1031975/end-of-life-for-tomtom-devices-with-2gb-internal-memory/p1

"Edited- 7th March 2019

J5/J6/LF/LG/M8/RZ/V7

Nav3
AH/AI/AR/BG/BH/BM/FA/FB/FP/SE/SI/SJ/SL/SM/SN/SP/SQ/SR"

note V7 is actually a GO 910 with 20GB HDD so what's the excuse for that??

ByeBye Nav2, TT subtle as ever to sell replacement units and take the load off their servers. Also bringing an end to the use of 2G SIMS for traffic

Well it’s finally happened... today I received an e-mail from TomTom saying that they're not providing map updates for the GO 910 any more.
Of course they used the opportunity to try and flog me a replacement device... but that ain't happening as they're current devices are so limited when compared to their older devices.
Fortunately the GO 910 can also be tweaked to happily run maps from other models (e.g. Renault Carminat which is still fully supported), so I'll still be able to eke out a little more life from them yet (I have more than one).
Just need to mod the mount so I can use a standard 1” RAM ball as the original OEM mounts are succumbing to perished suction cups (unless you can find a new boxed one).
Why oh why did RAM use a ¾” ball as is was not used for any of their other products (they made the OEM mount for TomTom)?
P.S. FYI... many years ago I discovered that by simply changing the boot loader to a newer one I was able to get all my old TomTom GO X10’s (even my ugly old original TomTom One 1st edition) to support 32GB SD cards and run better than they ever had before!

I also received an email, but when I followed the Link to their web site, the 910 (V7) was not listed among the unsupported devices. The 510 and 710 (V5) where listed. Confused

That's cos they couldn't be 4rsed to edit their list, simples!

Sadly even Niall hasn't (yet) got around to updating his far more accurate lists:-

Oh crap... this current culling of old TomTom devices may be more for another reason other than them blaming hardware limitations (that can be fixed easily)... blah... blah... etc.
The 6th of April 2019 (aka WNRO) bug is going to affect almost all of their legacy products.
The versions of the Carminat that run Navcore v8.XXX have received an updated Navcore to correct the issue, but the rest are being left to the mercy of the bug.
You can check your device for the bug WNRO here: https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/updates/
So will I be able to use my TomTom GO910 in a few weeks or will it be stuffed?

Interesting ... your list above states that the Go 700 is affected, but using the tomtom site and entering the actual serial number M53******** I get a message telling me it will not be affected....

I wonder what will actually happen on the fateful day ?? Will the earth cease to rotate ?? Will my microwave cease to function ?? Will (with any luck Smile yes please ) facebook crash forever ??

or will we all just carry on with life and perhaps make minor adjustments to what we normally do ??? Smile

I think you'll find the GO 700 (like the x10's and other x00's) are deffo EoL'd but as they apparently can't (officially) run the needed 9.541 navcore to resolve this end-of-the-world scenario, they may just be come doorstops (although as many already know) there are unofficial ways to tweak/run the 9541 on these old devices but until Doomsday arrives (even before Brexit now FFS), who knows?

That's what I find odd ...

TT say you need to run 9.541 to get around the GPS Date fix
TT say the GO700 cannot have 9.541 as it's EOL
TT say GO700 will continue to work after the GPS Date fix

Simply does not add up ! but then again, I have strong doubts TT actually know what they are doing half the time these days.

As I now have 3 GO700s all running different Softwares.. (9.541; 9.051; and the "official" GO700 7.903) it will be interesting to see what actually happens on "The Day"

The list I posted earlier was of model that are potentially affected by the bug.
However many older models have received maintenance updates to resolve the issue.
You can find more info here:

Put in my old One V3 serial in and it says
Quote:
After 6 April 2019, your satnav will continue to navigate, but it will not show the correct time and the estimated time of arrival.

so not quite a doorstop.
