So when are the Government busy-bodys going to get a grip and tell local councils to stop wasting local taxpayers money as 20MPH doesn't work. |

How odd. The 20 limit works well everywhere I drive. _________________ Dennis

It's all psychology.
In unmonitored areas drivers tend to do up to 35+ in 30 areas but only tend to do up to 30 in 20 areas. Still speeding but safer.
I was walking round Islington a few weeks ago, camera spotting, which is 20mph on ALL roads and the vehicles passing me were certainly all doing over 20. _________________ DashCam:

Im sure I read a couple of years back that 20mph limits were un-enforceable, is this still the case or are councils pulling the wool over our eyes ? _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

If general perception is correct, the police have better things to do than to prosecute motorists exceeding and ill advised 20MPH zone. |

This is Keynsham. The nice man in fluorescent gear and bike wanders around here regularly, never in the same spot so I haven't submitted him. And I don't know if he's authorised, becauise his back says Police STAFF as opposed to just Police. Sorry it's such a lousy picture, I was under cover doing sneaky.

20 mph is so difficult to stick to even wen trying
If it was si important all new vehicles would have to have limiters on that would not go over 20 when set, and also could be calibrated by GPS I'm sure
So is it more about milking than road saftety ? |

I do NOT have difficulty sticking to 20mph. My vehicle will tick over in third gear and stay under 20. I KNOW not to trample on the accelerator pedal and all will be well.
In my opinion, EVERYBODY can do the same - find a gear which will trundle along at less than 20mph and leave your right foot above pedal level. _________________ Dennis

Really? When you reverse into a parking space I'm sure you keep your speed below 20? Just use a similar technique when going forward _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Of course it makes sense. Of course it’s relevant. What it means is that a driver’s speed is not an act of God, it’s an act of Driver. _________________ Dennis

I drive cars and also used to drive on blue lights. Tell me a speed and I can drive at it, as Dennis says it's not difficult, car speed is completely in the hands, and feet, of the driver. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
