That's something I need to do.
Switch it on, go to traffic, I get 4 bars in the garage, then just sit and watch the bars. _________________ DashCam:

M8 will post more, but, it seems to be that the units themselves are dropping the connection. Once it's dropped out a quick stop/start of the traffic service gets it up and running in seconds ..... only to drop out again in seconds.
Q: I'm suspecting the latest firmware/software update that was fairly recent. Is it possible to back off a level and reinstall the previous update ?
I still have about half a dozen of them in Windows under the firmware folder.
The last major firmware update seems to be fairly old, 8.80, July, so maybe not to blame. Do they issue updates that are not firmware updates but minor updates that can be backed out ?
From what I can find you rename the file as GUPDATE.GCD and drop it into either \Garmin or \.System depending on model. Then turn off/on the unit.
Before I do anything I'm going to see if I can reproduce the symptoms:
Settings - Traffic, watch the 4 or 5 green bars appear = traffic, then watch them disappear = no traffic, then the sequence continues on off on off etc. _________________ DashCam:

In discussion with Kremmen this morning, I found that my unit will pick up Traffic (after the usual delay) when I switch on the unit from Off or Standby, but it looses it after a few mins. Also, most of the time, if I disable the Traffic in the menu, it also comes back on for a few mins when I re-enable Traffic. I get a solid 5 bars on the Traffic display when it is UP.
I also suspect this is due to a recent update as it definitely seems a Garmin problem, not Intrix.
Will anyone not having problems with Traffic please say if they have updated their firmware lately (or not). |

Yes, they have an issue:
I've found an old v 4.4 TrafficProvider file from a full backup I took. Lets switch them and see what happens ......... nothing, same issue.
Right - what it seems to do is try to logon to Inrix, about every minute, as advertised. Once locked it starts a soft countdown whilst it receives the traffic info. Then it disconnects as it goes round the frequency loop again.
What is currently happening is that the connection isn't always happening on the frequency search loop so we get the searching message.
Why is anyones guess.
It seems to be slowed by searching for RDS and the other DAB frequency that never connect. _________________ DashCam:

I'm still on old firmware 8.80, and I have sporadic traffic today.

Thanks
8.80 is the latest.
I think the bottom line is that Inrix via Garmin isn't able to lock onto frequency 222.064 every time it tries.
What have they done _________________ DashCam:

Thanks
Judging by the number of people and areas this is a nationwide issue, not our units but a transmission issue.
They are only receiving/locking onto Inrix randomly.
I've raised a Garmin ticket so maybe in 3 to 9 weeks I may get a reply. _________________ DashCam:

shouldn't the unit revert to rds tmc if there is a fault with the digital service? and with inrix tmc service now providing over 146000 km of coverage is a temporary loss of digital traffic really a major issue.
gardner1 was your unit receiving tpeg or tmc traffic? |

I watched in the Traffic developer diagnostic page as it tried, and failed, to lock onto many RDS frequencies. But at least it tried so I wonder what it takes to let RDS kick in.
Wonder if anyone still has map version 2019.10 and has problems ?
Just trying to pin it down. _________________ DashCam:

My .System/TrafficProvider.xml file was updated on 17/9/2018. I wonder if that was the cause of this issue.
I'll compare the new file with one from a backup and see what they changed.
Edited to add ...Lots of changes in the Great Britain section (very near the end of the file).
The file contains lines with scposn lat="??????????" lon="??????????" some lines have changed, many lines have been deleted. These lines seem to be intended to define the boundary of Great Britain but the numbers inside the quotes don't make any sense to me. _________________ Paul |

I've already done that exercise and used KDiff to find what you have.
My 4.50 trafficproviders.xml was 30th Aug so I suspect the filedate is when you updated.
I've run with the old 4.4 file and it still fails.
I wonder:
