I powered up my Garmin Camper 770 LMT-D in my car and had a look through the menu and I still cannot find Settings|Traffic|trafficTrends, even though the system was showing that it was receiving Inrix data.

Thanks for confirming. I don't have Android TomTom GO Mobile nor a modern TomTom PND that use MyDrive therefore I use words like "apparently" and "allegedly"! I must look into getting a cheap PAYG Android phone to allow me to compare the Android and iOS apps. I've heard that there might even be a way to get the POI icons to appear on the Android screen but until I see it myself I won't believe it.

Same here on a 50 LMT-D. The instructions say that trafficTrends should be at the bottom of the traffic menu, below "Traffic Alerts" but the trafficTrends option is not present. _________________ Paul |

Can't find it on my DS50 either. Maybe it's been removed. I'll have to check. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Thanks for having a look Paul. I don't use the Garmin often and so I'm not familiar with the menu system which tends to "help" you by offering Related Items so I lose track of where I've searched.

K, thanks to you too for looking and confirming.

Thank you sussamb for looking on your DS50. Looking forward to your findings.
As I've said previously, it does sound bizarre that switching off trafficTrends may improve routing but I'm happy to try it - hopefully trafficTrends will be in another part of the menu system.

I know the tom tom range is the 5000 6000 models etc which i might consider but they involve 1 or 2 more screen swipes than my old go live 820 to get certain routes or request |
Well after all that i bought a tomtom go 5200 £180 Halfords flash sale......at that price i couldn't say no
And if i do change my mind i'll make money selling it on ebay |

From what I can tell from here the only real disadvantages are that you can't use the more up to date PGPSW cameras on it and TT may render it obsolete sooner than expected.
Reports here seem to say that TT traffic and routing is better, so just keep to the speed limits with a TT _________________ DashCam:

@Kremmen, I have to agree the TT traffic is better and the routing is for definitely.
I'm go 6200 never routed me of a major road to come back on a few yards further down, nor has it sent me along dirt tracks to a dead end
I just have to work out a suitable way of using it in my current car as its got later maps than the built-in ones (the r-link maps are a year out of date and only get released yearly) |

I'm still struggling to understand where or how the TT traffic is better. I can't fault my Garmin traffic for speed (refreshes every minute) and accuracy.
Where I am, near Heathrow, traffic is horrendous most days and Garmin displays it all with the red and yellow sections accurately reflecting the start of the queue and severity. _________________ DashCam:

K, I hear what you’re saying but when I’ve had the Garmin Camper 770 Lmt-D and TomTom GO iOS app on my iPhone running side by side , I have found that the TomTom is more effective. While the Garmin Traffic is good, my experience shows that for me the TomTom has better Traffic.
Soon after getting the Garmin, I was driving from Cornwall to Oxfordshire and about to join the A30. TomTom said there was an incident but Garmin didn’t. I decided to ignore the TomTom which resulted in sitting in a jam for an hour. Whilst that might have been taken a a one-off I have since then compared the two and for the routes that I take I have found the TomTom Traffic to be superior.
Please note that this is just my own opinion and it’s not because I’m a TomTom fan boy. I’m a TomTom anti-evangelist!!
It may also be that I rather not drive in urban areas.
The only way is to get a cheap smart phone and load the TomTom GO app on it and try TomTom with Garmin.

Have to agree about TT traffic.....Garmin is good but TT seems to get info on roadblocks/accidents quicker |

Fair do's.
Must be an Inrix issue then as that's where it comes from. _________________ DashCam:
