BaseCamp 4.7.0

Garmin has finally updated BaseCamp to 4.7.0. after 4.6.2 which has been around for at least 2 years.

It's not an update, it's a downgrade causing significant issues so I recommend no one updates!

No longer links properly to Google Earth. Doesn't allow installation of maps to a connected satnav or GPS. Those are the main ones. Files etc shouldn't have altered though. To revert uninstall it and install 4.6.2

You need Windows Media Player V11 to be able to reinstall it (4.6.2). If you don't have that then it won't install. However, WMP is unsupported by MS so you can't download it off their site..

Couple of options.

Extract the installer and change in "productInfo.xml" the line:
WindowsMediaPlayerRequired from True to false

Win10 though includes WMP, at least mine does.

I've decided not to move on to BC 4.7.

Downloaded another copy of the latest map and unlocked it via IE with the Garmin Plug-in for use with BC 4.6.2.
