Hi all,
firstly let me say that I've been using/subscribing to cameralert, since it's inception many years ago, with no problems. However, I last used the app. 1 month ago & all worked perfectly, but since last week I cannot get any voice alerts. When the data base needs updating I get the audible male voice message " caution you are not ....."etc. The cameras are being visually displayed as normal, & it's receiving GPS. I've checked all the settings, re installed the app. but still no voice warnings. I've altered the audio output from default to device speaker, & back but this makes no difference.
App no v1.4.0.876 & Android v 5.
Any help would be appreciated as it's now back on the settings when it last worked, except now it doesn't'.
kind regards to all,
Paul |

Hello pko, If you are sure that all the settings are as they should be I would start by clearing the phones cache and then reboot the phone.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling the app, clear the cache and reinstall the app. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I tried everything Ali suggested to no avail. I'd given up on it ever working again, then I had a brainwave. Checking the blue tooth connection btwn car and phone I saw the car was connecting twice to the phone. Once was for normal telephone connection, & the second was for multi media connections btwn car & phone. On disabling this connection all worked fine. It would appear that the verbal warnings were being sent to the car's audio output, & bypassing the phone's speaker, & because the car wireless wasn't switched on, no warnings.
For info, car 2017 range rover sport, & phone LG -d855. |

Yes, CamerAlert will use the default audio output. If it's connected to BT audio then it will use that - which requires the stereo to be switched to the BT audio input.
Likewise, you can't hear the radio unless you have the stereo set to radio input.

Well Kremmen runs it in the background to the radio via BT and when an alert comes, his radio is muted, the alert spoken and the radio de-muted. |

..... and I must say, it works a treat
What it seems to do on my system is immitate a phone call. When CamerAlert issues an alert my headunit mutes, the text says "Calling.." plus other stuff I haven't spotted whilst driving. Then at the end of the alert it mimics ending the call and audio returns.
In early June I'll get M8 to note exactly what it says as we have a few short journeys planned, past cameras for demo. _________________ DashCam:

So he's linking it to his handsfree kit then rather than A2DP Bluetooth Audio. 2 different things.

My phone is just linked to the cars bluetooth connection that is required for the built in HFT.
What would happen if someone called and the HFT was in use is anyone's guess. Not likely to happen though. _________________ DashCam:
