|

Yep, ANOTHER "critical" version forced upon us:- 2.10.2.750 & 2.10.2.600 for the MAC (can't see any difference yet but maybe relating to end-of-life of the remaining NAV2's?)
"Several improvements in performance and bug fixes have been implemented" yeah, right!

loaded the Home update and checked against my trusty Go 750 Live. It still works and offers updates. The demise of the remaining NAV2s is still awaited. |

You really have to feel grateful to TT for their continued concern for our device’s integrity and performance. These updates make me feel sooooo much more secure. _________________ Dennis

You mean until they decide that your device is 'end of life' and support it no more? |

so this Home "update" actually kills off support for my trusty 750 Live and pops an advert window to sell you a wonderous new device.
End of an era, but still have Live Services until next year
RIP - decent Tomtoms |

If you are fed up with all these, apparently pointless, but very annoying, TTHome updates you could always do the following "hack" - very gratefully lifted from another site but I've been using it for some time now and it works great
Instal an older TTHome version that does not force updates and trick it into thinking it's already the current version.
Install a previous version of TTHome - anything prior to 2.8.1.2218 will do. I'm using 2.8.0.2146 which is, apparently, the last version just prior to the "nasty" ones.
After running the *.exe to install the version of TTHome, do NOT run it.
Navigate to: C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul
Using Notepad, Wordpad or another text editor, edit the file in xul called application.ini as follows:
In the line which reads 'Version=2.X.X.XXXX' (matching the version you have just installed), modify the number to read '3.x.x.xxxx' (I left the other numbers, just changed the leading one to "3". Once saved just run TTHome as usual, it will all work just fine
When your old version of TTHome runs, the version text '3.x.x.xxxx' will be compared to the most recently available version, and no update to TTHome will be offered (as it thinks it's already the latest version).
This will continue to work until a version of TTHome greater than 3.x.x.xxxx is released. At that time you will need to follow this procedure again.
Honest ... it just works |

Does that version include the Operate my GO feature? (which they quietly dropped some time ago). _________________ Dennis

Thank you. I shall now seek out some ancient Home installer - probably the only one I’ve got is the one on the original device, I’ll see. _________________ Dennis
