Normally the only reason there are additional average speed cameras is to log drivers entering or leaving part way through the overall section covered by the cameras. I suspect therefore that in the example above any timings at intermediate cameras would be ignored if you drove past the lot and it would simply be start and end timings that would count, but like M8TJT I don't intend to test it! _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I’ve changed my vote from MaFt to M8TJT. I think he should test the multiple Specs cameras on M4 between J12 and J13. (We have them, correctly, as 50mph, but TomTom have an old set at 40mph and bleeps continuously for mile after mile after mile). _________________ Dennis

That's littering, you should suggest involving a "bin" and TomTom _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

TT cameras out of date, surely not.
I reckon it will NIP you for any double camera infringement. You could break one set then get stuck for the rest and your average for say 1 to 5 is OK but you did a Jackie Stewart between 1 and 2. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks for all your input. There doesn't seem to be any proof that these cameras record average speed, but there must be a reason why they would replace a set of about six Gatsos with two Hadecs.
Maybe we need someone to let us know if they are ever given a fine for excessive average speed within Hadecs. That's if they are told it was recorded over a distance? Do people get told it is for average speed when they are caught in Specs territory? |

HADECS are NOT average speed cameras.

It seems you're still not convinced that they are simply digital gatsos that cover all lanes. Here is some light reading:

I have a theory. - It doesn’t matter what type a camera is - if you get caught by a camera you’re caught. Do you drive over the speed limit if the camera type is not to your liking, but stick to the limit for the lovely ones?
Which one/s is/are safe to exceed the limit? Which are not to be ignored? What’s the difference between exceeding the speed limit in a Gatso zone, in a Truvelo zone, LT20/20, Hadecs, Specs, Redspeed? _________________ Dennis

Spot on Dennis.
Maybe that's what the Garmin routing is doing. It isn't accidentally taking you down country lanes but avoiding those nasty cameras. _________________ DashCam:

I have my own theory.
The M62 from Bradford towards Leeds (eastbound) has had the old gatso's removed and a bunch of HADECs added. ALSO added were a number of grey SPECS poles and cameras. There are no signs saying average speed checks and they're not the usual yellow. I asked West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership some time back what they were (see here) and they said all the info is on their website (it's not by the way!)
So I wonder if the OP is confusing these grey SPECS cameras (I call them specs because they have the bird logo on the arm) with HADECS?

I’ve just developed a new theory. .....
If you don’t know what type of camera it is, it’s OK to exceed the speed limit. _________________ Dennis
