I have a 750 which hasn't been updated for ages and am considering the latest offer from TomTom. I currently have UK and Europe maps, but don't really need the Europe upadate. If I update with the UK map will it just update UK map and leave the Europe map alone or will it wipe out the Europe map?
I will also need to download the latest TomTom Home. Will this remove any of the current settings from my device as I don't want to lose anything which TomTom might consider unnecessary? I don't want to dumb it down like the current models.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi, I have a go 950 live. It came with uk and european maps. I didnt need the european maps so deleted them and bought just the uk maps when the chance came. My last map purchase was last week and for 18 months it only cost me just over £15 for 18 months. Details are on the forum a few articles down plus link. The 950 live takes some beating.

Thanks for the reply. That is the offer I am thinking about. You said you deleted the European maps, as you didn't want them. I would like to keep them on the off chance I might need them but don't want to buy new European maps. So does a new UK map delete everything or just the UK part?
Also does anyone have any info ref Home? |

Doesn't the 950 have an SD card slot? If so why not use a (nowadays) smallish i.e. 4 or 8 GB card? To store the map data?
I'm pretty sure that I used to keep older European maps on my 950 as well as the latest, to check for differences between new and older maps.
It's been some time since I've picked up my 950 so I may be wrong.

It 'should' leave the European map alone and only update the new one you are downloading.
Downloading a new version of Home should not change any settings on your GO 750 as you need to do this on the device.
I also have a GO 750 LIVE and its brilliant. Bought it brand new years ago and will not willingly change it as its much better than most newer models.
Great advice from Privateer in that you can add an SD card to take the map and that is exactly what I do. I have the operating system on the device and the map stored on my SD card. |

Thanks for that. I will get on and get the latest update. I agree that the 750 live is just what I want in a sat nav, I actually prefer it to a newer Garmin, which I got for the ability to use the camera updates from here. |
