Is it possible to connect a 315 to a laptop via a serial part and use it with navigon software? It works perfectly with Autoroute but I cannot get a gps connection with navigon. Tried various com ports and baud rates but no joy. Can anyone help, please? |

Wasn't Navigon exotically expecting SiRF protocol? Or was it a special set of NMEA sequences? Maybe their help file lists the requirements against the GPS receiver. _________________ Lutz

Their help file is particularly unhelpful! It seems to assume that the GPS receiver is one of their own and I can find no mention of signal type. It is very frustrating. And of course navigon seem to have a black hole into which correspondence is deposited |

Ah, that seems to ring a bell. Navigon was one of the foolish companies that tried to lock their software to their hardware. I would recommend you select a different program that is not locked. _________________ Lutz

Sigh, you are probably correct. It seems a shame though, I have the software, the magellan and the laptop, be nice if it could be made to work. I have a medion PDA running nav 4.2 which is superb but the screen is small. In am camper van touring Europe the Laptop running Autoroute and the Magellan are very good but lack the audio and proper navigation facilities of the PDA. |
