+1 and on the few occasions I do decide to use CA, some woman yells at me, at the top of her voice "YOU ARE NOT USING THE CORRECT DATABASE PLEASE UPDATE" |
It's actually: "Take care, you are not using the latest database. Please update". As a prompt to let you know there's a newer version of the database available to download.

Profuse apologies for not getting the exact wording, although I hardly think the difference does much to add to the post and, having used the database for many years, I'm well aware why the warning is there. What I don't understand however is why the app can't be updated to fix all the problems and give us automatic database updates. _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

It may not be relevant to some people but I use the app all over Europe and the world, including some places where roaming is a bit pricy. I don't want to automatically update all the time but, that said, I'm sure there's an option to detect if roaming is in use and to disable automatic updates on that. |

There are no automatic updates, just the bloody woman nagging you when you start up. |

I'm very concerned about the impending iOS 11 update and CA not working as it is still a 32 bit app.
I was even more concerned when I saw the reply "If you're worried about the app not working under iOS 11, then don't update". Talk about a 'head in the sand' statement.
I am lucky enough to be one of those members who have a lifetime subscription to the camera database, although I still make a contribution to go towards the upkeep etc.
Have the owners thought about the amount of income that will be lost if people stop subscribing?, even people not upgrading to iOS 11 will no longer find CA with an app search.
If an update is imminent, then I see no reason for not telling the members. If you decide not to update, then I think you will be making a very big and costly mistake.
Please let us know either way!

I hope I'm wrong but I doubt that the app will get an update. I'm assuming that it's not been updated since 2015 because of the difficulty the developers had with Apple. Apple don't approve of apps that encourage law breaking and so I seem to remember that the app can't be submitted as it would be rejected.
Something along those lines anyway. |

That doesn't stop them making the Android version more usable re the volume control and the super zoom in so that the road fills the screen and the icons made a bit smaller and less cluttered. |

I for one quite like the lady reminding me to "take care...". In fact, could someone introduce us?
While I'm here, could I add my voice to those imploring the developers to go 64-bit in view of Apple's forthcoming banishment of 32-bit apps?
Or to paraphrase the good lady: "You are not using the latest version. Please update!" _________________ Where there's a will - there's me! |

Very strange, I've either got a phantom phone with a mind of its own or I've completely lost my mind due to Alzheimer's. _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |
