My 2699 LMT-D hasn't been used for some weeks and just lost all its charge in that time. When I connect it to my laptop, it isn't recognised and refuses to start up.
I left it connected to the mains all night but it didn't charge. This afternoon, I connected it to the cars' cigarette socket but it didn't charge there either.
Anyone have any ideas? |

Damaged mini/micro USB socket? - try applying gentle sideways pressure on plug to see if it makes contact.
I'm not familiar with the 2699, but I assume it doesn't have a dedicated charging connection via a car cradle? |

If the battery is completely flat it may take a while to get enough charge to work. If you can use a wall socket and leave it charging overnight.
I'm surprised though that the battery should discharge that quickly if the device isn't being used, so if charging doesn't work call Product Support for help. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I was also very surprised that it discharged too. I did leave it plugged in overnight but to no avail. Will do the same later on today to see if it jolts it into action. |

Plugged into what though? A normal USB port generally won't provide enough power. Can also go to sleep in which case no power.
If your car socket does that stay powered on? _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Probably won't work, but, if plugged into a PC does the PC bing bong to acknowledge the device connection.
If theres a cable or socket issue then it definately won't work. _________________ DashCam:

@topref. Did you switch it off, or just put it in standby? |

I've had mine off charge for a few months and it didn't fully discharge. Strange. _________________ DashCam:

But was that with it on standby or switched off? |

Even so ... but you're right, if in standby that would have done it _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I have a SKROSS World Adapter which has two USB outlets and have tried both but it didn't charge the unit.
I also sat in the car with the engine running for quite some time yesterday but even that didn't work. It's not the cable as I used two different ones.
In answer to other responses (which I an very grateful for),
I always switch it off after downloading the camera alerts.
The PC doesn't recognise the unit when I connect it.
It is currently connected to the mains and will remain so overnight.
If there is still no change in the morning, I will contact Garmin. |

I am no expert, but have you tried holding the on/ off button in and seeing if that invokes a response?
